-- How has the episode shown the advantages and/or disadvantages of technology?

-- Can technology be used to maximize our human communication? How can we do so?

The episode of Modern Family has showcased the advantages of technology, however for
me, it highlights more of the negative effects it has on human communication. The characters
(Dunphy family) are going on with their usual day – the mother at work, the father at home
playing video games, and their daughter in the kitchen on her phone. From the duration of the
episode, I can tell how dependent they are on technology that they use social media to
communicate with each other despite being under the same roof. This beats the purpose of
human interaction and communication, because although we may be connected by technology,
there is a gap in our human relationships.

Technology also has its benefits. For families who have relatives in other countries, it is
now easy to give them a call, free of charges through all these social media applications. The
new age of technology now creates more online friendships, and it is easier to find someone who
can completely understand you. The only funny thing about technology is using it to connect
with people who are already in front of us. I would like the younger generations and our current
generations to do away with excessive dependence on technology, and focus more on creating
real human relationships through communication.
