2. How to pay in a cheque
3. It’s easy to pay in a cheque with the Barclays app.
4. Once you’ve logged in tap ‘Pay & Transfer’, then ‘Pay in a cheque’.
5. Next, choose the account you want to pay the cheque into.
6. Enter the amount displayed on the cheque – you can pay in any cheque up to $500 via the app –
and add a reference.
7. If it’s the first time you’re paying in a cheque, you’ll need to read through the terms and
conditions. If you’re happy, tap to accept them and tap ‘Take photo’.
8. Place your cheque on a flat, dark surface so it stands out from the background
9. Turn your smartphone into the horizontal position and hold it over the cheque…so all four
corners are visible and inside the gridlines.
10. When the cheque is correctly lined up, the screen will turn green like this…and the app will
automatically scan the cheque.
11. If the photo is blurred or crooked tap ‘Try again’
12. Or, if the image looks OK and is within the gridlines, tap ‘Use image’.
13. You’ll then need to take a photo of the back of the cheque.
14. Once you’ve done this and selected ‘Use image’, you’ll be taken to the Review screen.
15. If all the information is correct and you’re happy that all the images are clear, tap ‘Pay in
cheque’.
16. You’ll then see this screen to confirm your cheque has been paid in.
17. If the cheque hasn’t been submitted, you’ll see an error message.
18. Finally, tap ’Done’. And, if the cheque is paid in by 3.59pm Mon-Fri excluding UK public holidays,
the money will be available by 11.59pm the next working day.
19. Remember to write ‘Paid in’ and the date you’ve paid it in, on the back of the cheque.
20. You can pay in up to 4 cheques every 7 days – 20 if you’re a Business customer – starting from
the day you paid the first cheque in.
21. If you reach your limit of paying in cheques digitally, please visit your local branch if you wish to
pay in more.
22. If you want to keep track of the cheques you’ve paid in, tap ‘View cheques paid in’, select the
account you paid the cheques into, then tap on a specific cheque.
23. If you have any questions, visit our FAQ page.
24. That’s it.
