Prove the following:

(a) dim W ≤ dim V .


(b) dim W = dim V ⇐⇒ W = V .

2. Let W1 and W2 be two subspaces of a vector space V . Prove that

W1 + W2 = W2 ⇐⇒ W1 ⊆ W2 .
