Transcription is the process in which the information in DNA is copied to messenger RNA.

Differences and Similarities of DNA and RNA

Differences RNA has Uracil while DNA has Thymine

DNA has two strands while RNA has one
DNA has millions of nucleotides while RNA
has hundreds
DNA is deoxyribonucleic acid and RNA is
ribose sugar, with no deoxyribose.

Similarities DNA and RNA have Cytosine, Guanine and

Adenine
Both have a pentose sugar
Both have a phosphate backbone were bases
attach
Both store genetic information

PROTEINS

Proteins are made of very small units called amino acids, amino acids are chained. There are 20 different

types of amino acids that can be combined in such a way that they form the protein.

functions of proteins:

- They help with the development of the bones

- Increases strength through muscle mass

- Burns fat and therefore boosts metabolism

- Lowers blood pressure

- Is used for repairing injury.

examples:

1. Actin

2. Collagen

3. Dystrophin

4. Elastina

5. Fibrin

6. Keratin

7. Myosin

8. Nebulin
9. Pikachurin

10. Titin

pretty much anything ending with “in”.
