Lesson 1: An Introduction to Health, Wellness, Fitness and Healthy Lifestyle

NAME: KRISTINE C. SANTIAGO BSN1-D

THE SEVEN DIMENSIONS OF WELLNESS

Wellness is a dynamic process of growing knowledge and actively choosing choices that
lead to a happier, healthier existence. Wellness is multidimensional, encompassing emotional,
physical, interpersonal, spiritual, environmental, intellectual and occupational wellness. For each
and everyone, we rank these in order to what needs to come first and what needs to be prioritized.
Physical well-being comes first for me. Anyone who wishes to enjoy life to the fullest must
be able to maintain a healthy quality of life that allows them to go through everyday activities
without undue weariness or physical stress. Physical fitness and well-being often result in
psychological advantages such as increased self-esteem, self-control, drive, and a sense of
purpose..
The second aspect is emotional well-being. For each of us to operate correctly, we need
to live an emotionally healthy lifestyle. It is an indication of potential health when we can freely
express and control our feelings, ideas, and behavior.
Then there's spiritual well-being. The spiritual component acknowledges one's quest for
meaning and purpose in life. When you have a strong desire to discover the meaning of your
existence and choose to believe or enjoy things that others find difficult to comprehend, your
spiritual health is in danger.
Fourth is occupational wellness. To be able to get a decent job that makes you excited to
wake up everyday and pays very well is incomparable. Well, who doesn’t want to become
financially stable? It’s a different kind of happiness when you get a stable occupation and you
don’t have to worry much anymore about money.
Fifth, intellectual wellness. A healthy person is someone who is constantly eager to learn
and find new things, as well as be exposed to situations that challenge their intellect. Being
someone who feeds their brains with information in the same way that they nourish their bodies
with food is a good investment in living a happy life.
The sixth point is interpersonal well-being. I don't feel comfort in interacting with a large
number of people since I am rather anti-social. For me, one or two people is sufficient. A good
relationship with the people around you, on the other hand, may help you develop a better living
space and community.
Finally, there's environmental health. The capacity to have an influence on our
environment and contribute to the resolution of challenges such as air and water pollution is a
power. An environmentalist is someone who is concerned about the environment which who we
all should be. This is because, if we don't take action, then who will?
Wellness has always been around and will always be essential. Wellness is much more
than merely physical health, exercise or nutrition. It is the full integration of physical, mental, and
spiritual well-being. Investing in ourselves is very affordable. Remember, your life only gets better
when you do.
