1. What is the essence of Distribution Management in Marketing?

The essence of the distribution management is to ensure the proper and right distribution
of the products either goods or service, from the point of supplier to producer to manufacturer
to wholesaler or retailer until it finally ends up to the buyer or consumer. Distribution
management also manages the supply chain of goods and services includes managing all the
organizational activities, people, information, and resources required to move a product from
inception to the customer. Furthermore, distribution management is very significant in the
business because it helps to organize the flow of the products and helps to increase the
profitability of the company because of its fast and flawless transaction between markets and

products, from the point of the supplier until it reaches the final consumer, they must ensure
that the product that they are delivering or distributing is still in its good condition and good

unhappy experience and dissatisfaction of the customers. Therefore, having an excellent

having a flawless distribution management will helps to reach its goals and objective that will
be resulted to have a positive profitability, good reputation, competitiveness, more brand

2. Illustrate and Explain at least 3 Distribution structures.

Structure: Level 0

MANUFACTURER CUSTOMER

Structure: Level 1

MANUFACTURER wholesaler CUSTOMER

Structure: Level 2

RETAILER
MANUFACTURER WHOLESALER

CUSTOMER
As you can see in the illustrations, there are 3 kinds of structure of a distribution
management. In the first structure, it shows a direct distribution of product between
manufacture and consumer. Manufacturer is responsible for creating and producing goods for
the company to sell, while the consumer is the one who buys and consume the product. For my
opinion, this kind of structure did not show a proper distribution management because it causes
difficulty and struggle for those consumers who wants to obtain their needs and desired
merchandise. The next is the level 1 structure, it indicates the interaction between
manufacturer, wholesaler, and consumer, in which the goods that produced by the manufacturer
will be distributed to the wholesaler, and the wholesaler will deliver the products to the final
consumer. Wholesaler refers to a business that sells a bulk product, and after it will be
distributed to the customers. For my opinion, this structure is a bit hassle and difficult for the
customer because most of the wholesalers did not offer or sell a small number of orders
especially the customer will only buy one product. That’s why, they called wholesaler because
they are only selling a large number of goods. Therefore, this kind of structure is still
inconvenient for the buyers. Lastly, the level 2 structure which illustrate a distribution of goods
between manufacturer, wholesaler, retailer, and consumer. Retailers defined as a business that
sells a small quantity of goods that people buy in order for their end use or personal
consumption. One of the examples of retailers are convenience stores, 7/11, sari-sari store ad
etc. In my opinion, this structure shows a the best and proper distribution management because
it is more convenient for the buyers, less hassle and fast transaction of goods and services.
