PERSONNEL)
Supportive
personnel means a
person other than a
licensed pharmacist,
pharmacy intern, or
pharmacy technician who
may be performing duties
assigned by the
pharmacist under direct
supervision.
Pharmacy Aide
Duties and Tasks
1) Accept prescriptions for filling, gathering and
processing necessary information.
2) Answer telephone inquiries, referring callers to
pharmacist when necessary
3) Prepare solid and liquid dosage medications for
dispensing into bottles and unit dose packaging.
4) Greet customers and help them locate merchandise.
5) Unpack, sort, count and label incoming merchandise,
including items requiring special handling or
refrigeration.
6) Prepare prescription labels by
typing and/or operating a
computer and printer.
7) Receive, store and inventory
pharmaceutical supplies,
notifying pharmacist when
levels are low.
8) Operate cash register to
process cash and credit sales.
9) Restock storage areas, replenishing items on
shelves.
10) Maintain and clean equipment, work areas and
shelves.
11) Prepare, maintain and record records of
inventories, receipts, purchases and deliveries
Pharmacy Aide Skills and Abilities
1) Reading Comprehension -- Understanding written
sentences and paragraphs in work related
documents.
2)Oral expression- ability to communicate with others
3) Oral Comprehension -- The ability to listen to and
understand information and ideas
4) Service Orientation -- Actively looking for ways to
help people.
5) Speaking and Writing -- Talking and Writing to
others to convey information effectively.
Pharmacy Assistant
General Purpose
Assist licensed pharmacists in

Pharmacy Technician
A Pharmacy Technician works
closely with a Pharmacist to help in
the preparation and distribution of
prescribed medication. Their
support and expertise enable
pharmacies to run smoothly and
efficiently. They typically work in
hospitals and pharmacies where
they help mix medicines, measure
medication, count pills, label
bottles, take payments and give
instructions for medication.
Supporting pharmacological services by
assembling, stocking and distributing medications
Maintaining records by recording and filing the
prescriptions and orders of Physicians
Sorting, stocking and labeling medications and
monitoring inventory
Responding to the requests of patients and
healthcare providers, answering their questions and
referring various inquiries to the Pharmacist
Complying with rules, regulations and procedures to
help maintain a clean and safe pharmacy, such as
by sterilizing equipment and surfaces
Processing prescriptions electronically and ensuring
all information is accurate and complete
Generating revenues by recording, calculating and
issuing charges
Undertaking administrative tasks such as record-
keeping as assigned by a Physician or facility
manager from time to time
