ACTIVITY 6

ELECTRICAL MAINTENANCE AND INSTALLATION WITH CCTV

Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this activity, the student will be able to:
1. Understand what maintenance is and what advantages it has in our lives,
environment and industries.
2. Present a preventive Maintenance Plan and the describe details, as well as be
familiar with CCTV and how it is installed.
Theory:
Electrical Maintenance is the upkeep and preservation of equipment and systems that
supply electricity to a residential, industry or commercial building. The work is commonly
performed on a schedule based on the age of the building, the complexity of the electrical
system or on as needed basis. Advances in the design and quality of electrical
components have made it possible for electrical systems to run for years without
noticeable problems. With an increased for reliance on both data collection and
machinery run by computer software, electrical maintenance is more vital than ever. The
failure of a single component in the electrical system can cause extensive downtime or
data loss.
CCTV stands for closed-circuit television and is commonly known as video surveillance.
“Closed circuit” means broadcasts are usually transmitted to a limited (closed) number of
monitors, unlike “regular” tv, which is broadcast to the public at large. CCTV networks are
commonly used to detect and deter criminal activities, and record traffic infractions, but
they have other uses.
Equipment:
• MICROSOFT EXCEL
Procedure:
1. Examine the concept and significance of electrical maintenance and installation,
as well as how CCTV works and is installed.
2. Present the preventive maintenance plan of the given topic and elaborate how it
works.
Documentation:
Conclusion:
The activity that was completed allowed us to understand how important and relevant
electrical installation and maintenance are. Furthermore, a preventive maintenance plan
is highly recommended because it minimizes unforeseen situations and complex
problems that may occur if not prevented in advance. Since machinery, equipment, and
systems are major emphasis of the topic, it emphasizes the need of maintaining them.
When we go through the topic, it recalls us of the prior webinar, which is the Basic
Occupational Safety and Health, and how these two topics usually go hand in hand and
play and important role in the field. Finally, we’re taught how CCTV is wired and installed,
as well as the components, types and their functions. Overall, the topic allows us to gain
new knowledge and insights that will be relevant to us when we are able to perform it in
the near future.
