5 Essential Tips to Building Great Customer Relationships

1. Put Your Employees First


 When you put your employees first, everything else falls
into place. Your workers will be happy to show up and contribute as much
as they can every day. They'll love working for your company, and those
positive feelings will transfer over to every customer interaction.

2. Obsess Over Your Customers


 Customer obsession is a state of hyper focus on creating a better customer
experience from the customer’s perspective. Customer obsessed describes a
commitment to having a customer-first approach. That means Customer
needs are at the center of everything you do and the customer experience,
everything from sales to marketing to support, is built around these needs.

3. Don’t Just Communicate – Connect


 The ability to speak is not the same thing as the ability to communicate. The
capacity to construct a message, addresses it to another, listen for
feedback, process that feedback, and continue to communicate in ways that
are understood is one of the hardest things a leader will have to do.” But it
can be done if we are willing to make the conscious choice to connect with
others. We don’t just communicate but also we need to connect because
connecting is basic to human relations, if you want to succeed, you must
learn how to connect with others. When you connect with others, you
position yourself to make the most of your skills and talents.

4. Always Exceed Expectations


 Exceeding expectations is the means by which value is created and things
get sold! You can exceed expectations in price, quality or service and
possibly all three but you must understand what it really means to exceed
expectations before you can actually do it. The first thing to understand
about exceeding expectations is this: The expectations you exceed today
become the seed for new opportunities in the future. This may seem to be
an obvious fact, but many people fail to connect today's actions with future
opportunities. By that I mean they approach exceeding expectations as a
one-off special event rather than a way of life. Exceeding expectations is a
foundational attitude and something that you have to pursue daily.
Exceeding expectations is a proactive effort that is always looking for a way
to express itself. Exceeding expectations is a completely voluntary activity
and when it becomes foundational to the way you think it has the power to
elevate value and become the seed for new opportunity.

5. Provide Stellar Customer Service


 A provide stellar customer service rep can put herself/himself in the
customer's shoes and understand where frustrations come from. Empathy is
necessary to offer the right solution. Often when people complain they
really just want their problem to be acknowledged and to see that you care.
