INTRODUCTION TO THE CODE
The primary purposes of the University
are the application of knowledge and
the education of its members, these
purposes can be achieved only if the
members of the University community
have mutual trust and confidence,
respecting the rights of other persons
and not being afraid of expressing their
thoughts. The Student Code of Conduct
sets out the standards of conduct
expected of students. The individuals
are expected to follow the University
rules and regulations. Failure to comply
with the standards stated in this Code
will result in disciplinary actions.
CONFLICT OF INTEREST
Conflicts of interest may arise in a
variety of situations and may result from
personal, social or financial interests.
For instance, when there is a personal
relationship between a member of the
academic staff and a student, the head
of department should be informed. It
must be also stated that the staff
member should take no part in the
academic assessment of this
student.Particular difficulties may arise
in the commercial exploitation of
intellectual property. The individuals
should declare their future intentions
and association with a venture to their
head of department and all other
involved parties.
PROHIBITED COUNDUCT
Examples of student misconduct are
given below, the list is not exhaustive.
Failing to comply with any University
rule, regulation or policy
Cheating in examinations
Representing the work of another
person as the student's own work
Publishing material which is abusive or
offensive about another student
Damaging or stealing University
property or the property of any person
Discriminating against any person on
grounds of age, disability, race, religion
or sexual orientation
Falsifying data or results used for the
purposes of assessment
DISCIPLINARY MEASURES
The following disciplinary measures
may be imposed but not limited to:
Written warning that the behavior is
inappropriate
Probation, during which certain
conditions must be fulfilled
Failing grade in the course in which
the academic misconduct occurred
Cancellation of scholarships or prizes
Loss of certain privileges
Imposing fines (money collected will
be used to support the University)
Exclusion of the student from
participation in any academic or other
activities of the university for a
specified period
Expulsion of a student from the
University
