Identify five (5) examples of

material culture of Moros as presents in the documentary, and explain their
significance to the Moro population.

1. Body Armor
Body armor allows some body parts to be prioritized for movement while others
are prioritized for protection. There are also big plates to protect the heart and
lungs, as well as smaller plates near the shoulders to guard against downward
slashes. There are also plates that cover the thighs and groin, although they aren't
visible.
2. Garay
Garay were the Banguingui people's traditional native warships in the Philippines.
They were often utilized for piracy by the Banguingui and Iranun peoples against
unarmed commercial ships and raids on coastal settlements in the regions
surrounding the Sulu Sea in the 18th and 19th century.
3. Moro Barong
The Barong is a traditional short sword used by Moro warriors. It is revered for its
ability to remove an arm or leg in a single hit. The Barong is the unique national
weapon of the Tausugs Moros of the Sulu archipelago, and it can be found in
Mindanao, North Borneo, and other Moro islands. The barong is the only Moro-
made knife that hasn't been influenced by other trident designs.
4. Moro Kris/ Calais
The most well-known Moro weapon is the kris. Every Moro tribe has its own
variation, and it was a strong talisman as well as a crucial emblem of a man's status
and rank in society. Kris blades are double-edged and have a wide base. They can
be waved, half-waved, half-straight, or straight (straight blades were more practical
in combat). Older kris had fewer waves, but they were bigger and more powerful.
5. Kampilan

The kampilan is a Mranaw bladed weapon that depicts the Moros fighting
valiantly against foreign invaders. The kampilan grew into a living testament to
the Mranaws' bravery, dignity, and control over time. Its copy is now presented as
a gift of friendship.
