Letter of Motivation

Leadership, there has always been a long-lasted debate about whether leaders are born or are
they made and, there have been examples of both circumstances. I believe that every human
being is a born leader, but it is the circumstances and opportunities which would make him
exhibit the leader in him. I would also go with the words of John Quincy Adams “If your actions
inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader” So,
according to me, leadership mainly starts with first inspiring the people around us.

I am Thahir KP and with this letter, I am applying for a position in the Masters in Transition
Management, offered at the JLU Gießen.

As this research-oriented Master's program in “Transition Management” starts at this point and
aims to provide students with the skills they need to start their own business or manage the
economic sector in established companies, I am looking Impressed by its areas of specializations.
Digital Innovation, Future of Work and Leadership, Internet-Based Business Models, Project
Management, Venture Valuation, etc will definitely help me to reach my career goals in the
future.

The customized introduction to Administration addresses the next step in my professional

development. I have 10 years of total work experience in different areas in the banking sector
like customer service, Back office operations, Human resources, Risk and compliance and in
fraud control and chargeback in the largest lender of UAE (First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) and in a
private bank (Finance House). I graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from Mahatma Gandhi
Kashi Vidyapith University located in India. During my degree, I was very active in many facets
of university life. I completed my master's in Business Administration from Singhania University
in Information Technology. I did this 1 year MBA in order to complete 16 years of study so that I
come eligible to pursue a Master's in Germany.

After working full time for a government bank based in UAE for over 10 years, I began to
realize that for a business, having an innovative product or service is only a fraction of the battle
- the rest is a matter of convincing consumers that it is worthy of their time and resources to
invest in. For me, the field of marketing has always been a fascination, especially since strategies
that succeed in one product or service may prove disastrous in another setting. Multiple factors
influence the success and viability of a marketing strategy, and my own experiences with
business functions that I am associated with currently, (Banking) has taught me that there is no
absolute methodology that works in every corporate situation. I hope to be able to return to a
reputed University to obtain my Master's in a management field which will allow me to hone my
business/strategy skills further as well as delve deeper into effective marketing/leadership
maneuvers. Also, my extensive working experience in the financial industry has driven my
continued interest in the field, and I believe that it has prepared me well for the challenges that
lie ahead both in my MBA as well as in my career further.
I am confident that my management training at your esteemed University will help to enhance
my knowledge of marketing strategies, leadership, global market awareness, etc., and allows me
to become a more active, effective, and successful business leader in the future. I believe that a
successful business leader is one that understands how to strategically implement the resources
of the company to ensure maximum development and potential.

My future goal is to become a product manager in banking or in any fin-tech where I will be able
to use my skills to help businesses pursue viable strategies to drive interest in their products and
services. Successful business management requires knowledge of how to best utilize the balance
of strengths and weaknesses found in each individual. I hope to augment my experiences and
knowledge further by pursuing a Master's Degree, which will give me the advanced skills I need
to achieve my career goals. Throughout my time in the industry, I have seen the value of having
additional education in the field, especially the type of mentoring by industry experts that are
offered at the graduate level as part of this master's program. Despite my desire to be a product
manager, I even more strongly desire to be part of an effective team. A master's in the
Economics, Food, and Agriculture field will help me understand my leadership role as part of a
company hierarchy and how to successfully work together with other business leaders to
combine our expertise. I am confident that the networks, skills, and new knowledge that I will
develop throughout this program will enhance my potential as a banking professional and drive
my future career to success.

My Master’s is crucial to my development as a person as well as a business leader, and I hope to

be able to fully take advantage of this opportunity.
