Aimee Ihling Thank you for assisting in service. Here are a couple of notes to Tech
help you through the service. Please light the candles before
worship. The scripture readings are included in this copy, but please
read the scripture from a Bible. You may bring your own or use the
one in the pulpit. (If you wish to use a translation other than the
NRSV, please speak to Michael before the service.) Also, the
microphone on the pulpit is only on when you are speaking, so
please stay at the pulpit during the first hymn and the Song of Praise.
If it is more comfortable, you may turn and watch the monitors
during the singing. Don’t worry; your singing will not go through
the sound system.

Let us pray We thank you, God, for the trust you have placed in us.
It is not your will that we should bury our talents, but that we should
take chances, risking failure and success, so that all might come to
know your glorious story. Fit us for our task. Sustain us with a sense
of your presence. Move in our midst. Amen.

Aimee Ihling *Prayer of Brokenness & Reconciliation Confession
In the midst of a broken world and broken lives, we gather together
to be touched by the divine, to be healed and made whole. Let us
pray together: Let us pray,

 O Lord our God,  you know us better than we know

ourselves.  As we come before you now,  believers and
doubters alike, we all share a deep need, for we are all lost
without your grace. Search us, O God, and know our
hearts, test us and know our troubled thoughts. Give us true
repentance. Forgive us all our wrongs. Transform us by your
Spirit to live for you each day, to learn to serve each
other and, through the grace of Jesus Christ our Lord, to
come at last to heaven.   Amen.
God hears our prayers, and gives us the opportunity to be restored
to new life with Christ. Praise be to God!

Prayer of Illumination
Let us pray: Lord, open our hearts and minds by the power of
your Holy Spirit, that as the Scriptures are read and your
Word is proclaimed, we may hear with joy what you say to us
today. Amen.
Scripture Reading
Matthew 25:14-30
Our first scripture reading for today is taken from the Matthew
25:14-30. Listen, and hear the Word.
"For it is as if a man, going on a journey, summoned his slaves
and entrusted his property to them; to one he gave five talents, to
another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then
he went away. The one who had received the five talents went off
at once and traded with them, and made five more talents. In the
same way, the one who had the two talents made two more
talents. But the one who had received the one talent went off and
dug a hole in the ground and hid his master's money. After a long
time the master of those slaves came and settled accounts with
them. Then the one who had received the five talents came
forward, bringing five more talents, saying, 'Master, you handed
over to me five talents; see, I have made five more talents.'

Please rise if you are able, All around us are signs of your gracious

list them before you. Keep us from taking any of them for granted or
thinking that we are totally deserving of them. May we count our
blessings and remember always that it is your nature to give and not
count the cost. May we freely bring our tithes and offerings to you.
