The Advantages and Disadvantages of Open-Plan Offices

The most benefits of working in a big open-plan office are in favour of the occupiers who can
benefit of a better health due to the the greater quantity of movements that they need to do in a
big open space to go to the toilet, to have a cup of coffee or to talk with a collegue; Another plus
side from the point of view of emplyees is the possibility to make friendship with the nearest
collegues on the condition that they are outgoing and hands-on people. It is demonstrated that
easygoing workers find less stressfull working in a team instead of lonely people who prefer work
on a computer and realx by themselves. There is just one advantage for the firm and it is on the
side of costs because the emplyers reduce required space to work and and pay a lower rent for the
venue. The thing is that the encrease of the efficiency is just an illusion because it arise only on
the side of costs and in the side of productivity at all because they don’t take into account the
needs of concentration of working peple and the all distractions which hamper workers to do
their job .
In my opinion neither the open-plan nor the individual office space are acceptable solutions
because there isn’t a balanced trade off between the two variables of “saving space”and “work
well” that’s why I suggest not to put all office workers in one big room or in a lots of single rooms
but to create working space of middle size equipped with the proper instruments to execute a
function. Let’s faced it an employee put in an open-space in a mass of employee, no matter how
many people are around him, but he will never feel part of the group instead in a hall dedicated to
to a specific job he will be able to focus on his task and to confront with colleuges with a similar
resume and maybe a more expertises.
