INTRODUCTION

This song format is for students who, although they may not currently know how to read standard
music notation, may still want to play tunes of church songs, including hymns. While reinforcing the
letter names of the piano keys, your students may learn to play the melody of “Amazing Grace.”
Please note that the rhythms will not be presented. Therefore, the students need to recognize the song
well enough so they will know how short or how long to hold the keys.

The words of the song are placed near the vertical line that is connected to the black key that is to be
played.

Use only the black keys.
