TITLE:
“TREE PLANTING: SAVE EARTH AND PLANT TREES FOR THE FUTURE WORLD AND
GENERATION – TAGUIG YOUTH TREE PLANTING ACTIVITY 2022”

IMPLEMENTING AGENCY:
Local Government Unit of Brgy. Ususan, Taguig City

RATIONALE:
In one of a news item "a man died because of the sudden fall in the rushing floodwaters due to the heavy
rains that causes landslide and floods in Allah river in South Cotabato. The head of surallah municipal
DRRMO said that the man with his wife and daughter was passing by the bamboo bridge with their
motorcycle when it suddenly slipped which causes them to fall in the rushing floodwaters. His wife and
daughter managed to reach the riverbanks on the other hand the man was carried away by the raging
waters and eventually drowned. He also said that the makeshift bridge in Barangay Dajay were destroyed
due to floods." This problem and issue about the floods and landslides will be a great call to continue
pursuing the tree planting project to help and to save the environment, to prevent the damage of properties
as well as to save the life of the people. This project for the community of Ususan, Taguig City will be a
big help as to not imitate what happened in South Cotabato.

OBJECTIVES:
 To plant a target of 60 trees and ensure its healthy growth within the period.
 To raise awareness to the community especially to the society in the importance of planting and
saving trees.
 To diminish the unfavorable effect of climate change.
 To reduce air pollution.
 To prevent flooding and landslides.
 To encouraging the people especially the young generation to be an agent of change for
environment.
 To build a strong relationship with each other by helping hand and hand.
 To show and to bring back the “bayanihan” culture of everyone.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Trees have a big role in our daily life. It contributes a great part in the environment. It produces oxygen,
which we need. Moreover, it improves air quality, preserves soil, support wildlife and conserves water.
With all of these benefits into consideration, we have thought of pursuing the tree planting project in
Ususan, Taguig City, where our beloved alma mater, Senator Renato “Compañero” Cayetano Memorial
Science High School, is located. As students who travel daily back and forth from our homes to school, a
part of the community and a person who cares for mother earth, we want to put efforts to prove our part
through accomplishing this project. The tree planting project would be successful through the help of the
Brgy. Ususan, Taguig City officers and volunteers. The goal is to plant a target of 60 trees and maintain it
to become a healthy grown tree. To ensure the growth of the trees planted, the duration of the project is 1
year. The project is expected to bring numerous benefits of planting trees in the community of Ususan,
Taguig City.

TIMELINE/MATRIX OF ACTIVITIES:
The tree planting project was broken into different phases, as follows:
FIRST: The tree planting activity is to be announced in the whole barangay of Ususan, Taguig City and
the youths interested in the project will all be welcomed to register for the activity. Posters for
sponsorships and donations will also be posted all around the community.
SECOND: Preparation – Selection of 30 participants, collection of resources (purchase of seedlings and
fertilizer, gathering of materials for planting) and donations/sponsorships, site preparation (strip bushing,
staking, hole digging, fertilizer application.
THIRD: A meeting for all participants will be held to provide information and guidance prior to the tree
planting.
FOURTH: Planting of Trees
FIFTH: Maintenance; to make sure that the trees will grow healthy and the activity would not be a waste.
The whole activity is for 1-year duration to ensure the success of the tree planting activity.

BUDGETARY REQUIREMENT:
With sufficient financial resources to secure materials, equipment, services and management, the tree
planting activity can successfully be implemented and fulfill its objectives, serving the best for the
community of Ususan, Taguig City.
To help you understand the financial aspect of the tree planting activity, the following part will describe
and recommend budget allocation strategies for the prepared activities.
Generally, across the month of March where our project will be operated, budgets are allocated primarily
for maintenance (58%), service (23%) and purchase of materials (19%).

SOURCE OF FUNDS/MATERIALS:
The key part in the completion of the project is the resources and funds. The source of funds and
materials hold the success of the project. In line with this, the expected cost of the project is planned to be
funded by sponsorships and donations, as well as the voluntary contributions of the project personnel. The
sponsorships and donations will be open for 2 months, from January to February of year 2022 and these
will be collected and allocated in various activities for the success of the project.
PERSONNEL REQUIREMENT:
In the fulfillment of the tree planting activity, here are the list of the key personnel responsible:

Participants: 30 selected youth participants of Taguig City

EXPECTED OUTCOME:
The project is expected to bring numerous benefits of planting trees in the community of Ususan, Taguig
City. By planting trees, we aim to improve the air quality in the community by planting a target of 60
trees to help in intercepting, trapping dust and other pollutants in the air. The shade of the trees also
provides a useful barrier to harmful UV rays from the sun. The project does not only serve for health and
community benefits, rather it is mainly planned for the future generation. As humans and animals depend
upon trees for survival, by planting more trees, our efforts would contribute to global reforestation and
thus, saving the world.
