In light of the celebration of the National Heritage Month (NHM) 2021, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts is launching the 2021 NHM Digital Poster Competition.
For 2021, the celebration shall carry the theme “VICTORY AND HUMANITY: Upholding Filipino Heritage and Identity” in solidarity with the commemorations of the Philippine part in the first circumnavigation of the world and other related events of the 2021 Quincentennial Commemorations in the Philippines.
The poster competition will serve as an avenue for amateur digital artists to showcase their artistic talents to more audiences by getting the chance to have their work declared as the official poster of the upcoming National Heritage Month celebration in May 2021.
II. GUIDELINES
1. ELIGIBILITY
a. The competition is open to all Filipino citizens who are residing in the Philippines and are at least 18 years old and above.
b. Officers and members of the NCCA Secretariat and their relatives up to the fourth degree of consanguinity or affinity are not qualified to participate.
c. No professional graphic designer is allowed to join.
2. ENTRIES
a. Each participant is only allowed to submit ONE (1) entry.
b. The posters shall be a visualization of the NHM 2021 theme, “VICTORY AND HUMANITY: Upholding Filipino Heritage and Identity” and must adhere to the objectives of the NHM

c. The poster must conform to the following specifications:
i. Poster dimension: 11” x 17”, portrait
ii. Rendered in PNG, 72ppi, and RGB colors.
iii. Bear the following text elements:

iv. Affixed NCCA logo, NHM logo, and allotted space for additional logos of NCCA partner agencies.
d. For branding purposes, the elements of the poster must be editable to aesthetically fit any collateral design.
e. The posters are governed by laws and issuances concerning intellectual property. Thus, participants are strictly advised to submit a new and original work and avoid using elements on the poster which could possibly be subjected to copyright infringement.
f. The participant/s shall certify that the submitted poster is original by accomplishing the Certificate of Originality. Download and sign the template of the certificate here: https://tinyurl.com/2021NHM-COO.
g. For easier monitoring, the file names of the submissions must follow the format below: i. POSTER ENTRY: (PEDPC_Last Name First Name)
ii. CERTIFICATE OF ORIGINALITY: (CODPC_Last Name First Name)
a. Participants shall register and submit their entries online through this link: https://tinyurl.com/2021NHMDPC.
b. Participants must prepare a copy of their valid ID indicating their birthdate and a duly signed Certificate of Originality which are required to complete the registration process.

d. Deadline of Registration and Entry Submission is on or before January 11, 2021 (Tuesday) at 11:59PM - Philippine Standard Time.
4. CRITERIA
NOTE: The decision of the panel of judges based on the criteria below is final and irrevocable.
RELEVANCE AND The work easily explains the theme of NHM 2021 40% VISUAL IMPACT and entices the general audience at first glance. The use of colors and layout of elements must be engaging. CREDIBILITY AND The work must be original and contain elements 30% ORIGINALITY that are creatively and correctly used (i.e. text, illustrations, etc.) ADHERENCE TO The participant/ designer understood the 30% TECHNICAL significance of specifications identified by the REQUIREMENTS NCCA (e.g. spaces for logos and format).
a. Three (3) participants will be declared as winners of this contest and will receive the following:
i. 1st Prize – Php 25,000.00 (Twenty-Five Thousand Pesos) net of applicable withholding taxes (Php 31, 250 gross) + Certificate of Recognition + Featured announcement as the official poster for the 2021 NHM celebration
ii. 2nd Prize – Php 10,000.00 (Ten Thousand Pesos) net applicable of withholding taxes (Php 12, 500 gross) + Certificate of Recognition
iii. 3rd Prize – Php 5,000.00 (Five Thousand Pesos) net applicable of withholding taxes (Php 6, 250 gross) + Certificate of Recognition
b. After the screening and deliberation process of the entries, all declared winners will be notified and contacted by the NHM secretariat first before being officially announced to all participants through email.
c. All winning entries will be recognized and featured in the 2021 NHM Souvenir Program.
d. In effect, the 1st place winner shall grant the NCCA the right to reproduce as collateral and use the poster in other Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) material for the NHM 2021 celebration.
e. The 1st place winner shall submit a printable version of the poster rendered in PDF/JPG, 300 dpi, and CMYK colors.
f. In the event that the 1st place winner fails to comply with the said submission within five (5) working days upon receipt of the message from the NHM secretariat through e-mail, the board of judges shall identify the 2nd placer as the new winner.
