A one-liner statement we want the kids and their

Proclamation family to remember after they discuss the topic.
Statement
Jesus helps me to be calm.
The morals and virtues we want the family to learn
Value and practice for the week.
Calmness in facing problems.
The main goal of every household. With these,
parents are guided in how to teach the young about
the Sunday Gospel.
  To be able to illustrate how Jesus calms the
Objective
storm through the activity
 To arrive at a point on how to be calm in
everyday life.

The Gospel Reading of the coming Sunday where the

activity for the week is based on. This will be the
source of our teaching. This will bring the family to
know the life story of Christ through the accounts of
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
Mark 4:35-41

On that day, as evening drew on, he said to them, “Let

us cross to the other side.” Leaving the crowd, they
took him with them in the boat just as he was. And
other boats were with him. A violent squall came up
Gospel Reading
and waves were breaking over the boat, so that it was
already filling up. Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a
cushion. They woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do
you not care that we are perishing?”  He woke up,
rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Quiet! Be
still!” The wind ceased and there was great calm. Then
he asked them, “Why are you terrified? Do you not
yet have faith?” They were filled with great awe and
said to one another, “Who then is this whom even
wind and sea obey?”

Activity The part where the family members get to interact

with each other using enriching and creative ways of
learning.

Can you hear Me?

Materials: downloaded sounds of the following:

1. Forest
2. Cars in traffic
3. Rain and thunder
4. Playing instruments

Notes:

 Each member of the family will close their

eyes
 The Household Head will play the sounds
listed here. The other members will listen to
those sounds.
 Each sound will be played for a minute
 After the last sound, the other family
members will remain their eyes closed for a
minute to feel and listen their surroundings
 After 1 minute, they can now open their eyes.

Processing Points Allows the parents to explain creatively and briefly the
following:
a. Connection of the activity to the Gospel and
the value to be learned; and
b. Meaning of the Gospel and how it can be
applied in their daily life
(3.5points)

 Did you enjoy the activity? How did you feel?

from the activity, we heard different sounds.
Those sounds made us to feel different
emotions that makes us happy, distracted, or
afraid.

 And because of that, like Jesus’s followers, we

become distracted, or worse, we become
frustrated causing us to become afraid, and
worse, we may lose our relationship with the
Lord.

 As Catholics, we are reminded that we must

be faithful to the Lord;

 and we must be reminded that despite of

these distractions, as faithful Catholics, we
must become calm in these times so that we
can become confident that everything is
possible when Jesus is on our side.

 To do this, we should believe that God can do

all things, and do the impossible, through
prayer, and to believing yourself that you can
do it when God is in your side!

The avenue for the family members to share their own

experiences and learning based on the activity.

Discussion/Guide  How did you feel when you heard the sounds?
questions Did you feel irritated or at peace?
 From the sounds that you have heard, how
can you show calmness in your life?

An added exciting tidbit of learning for our children.

Did you know that the Sea of Galilee is not a sea?

In fact, it is a freshwater lake, and the largest lake

found in Israel about 53 kilometers (33 miles) around,
about 21 km (13 miles) long, and 13 km (8 miles) wide;
it has a total area of 166 square kilometers, and a
depth of about 43 meters. At 209 meters below sea
level, it is considered as the second lowest lake in the
Fun trivia world after the Dead sea found in between Jordan and
Israel.

Due to its low-lying position in the rift valley,

surrounded by hills, the sea can get sudden violent
storms.
