Learning Task
Activity 3.4 Count Me In, Count Me Out: Will I Give My Job or Not?
Objective: Appreciate the rights, responsibilities and accountabilities of social work.
Distinguish between ethical and unethical behaviors among social work.
Directions: Read the situations below. Suppose you are a social worker involved in those cases; how would
you react to the given situations? Justify your decisions based on the principles of social work. Kindly utilize
separate sheet of paper and attach it to your accomplished modules.

1. Ariel and Marlon are counselors at a home for adolescent boys with emotional and behavioral problems. They
occasionally hold dinner parties to de-stress and mingle with friends. You were finally invited in one of their dinner
parties in a crowded restaurant in Quezon City. After a few drinks, Ariel and Marlon started to compare
“battle stories” about their most interesting cases. When it was finally your turn to share your experiences,
all eyes turned on you.

2. Raul Gonzaga has been enrolled in a drug rehabilitation program in order to break his drug addiction. In one of
your sessions, he revealed that some years ago, he accidentally killed a bank guard during an armed robbery. He
was never caught by the police, but another man was convicted for the crime and is now in prison for a lengthy
sentence. For several days, you have been trying to convince Raul that he should talk to the police in order to
free an innocent man from prison. Raul adamantly refuses to listen to your suggestion.
