1. What is school plant and its importance in teaching learning process?

School plant refers to everything within the school premises which


includes the site, buildings, equipment, and all essential structures permanent
and non-permanent as well as machines and laboratory equipment and others.
The importance of this in the teaching learning process includes the ff:
a. School plant helps improve students’ performance in achievement test.
b. School plant improves attendance and reduces dropout rate.
c. School plant improves students’ attitude to learning.
d. School plant increase teacher retention rate.
e. It boosts teaching effectiveness.
School plant is very essential in achieving positive outcomes in the teaching
learning process since it is the pillar and support of all teaching and learning
activities. For me physical facilities as well as the school has a great impact
and contribution to the total success of the school and the learners as well.

2. Why there is a need to have a standard room, building and school


facilities?

There is a need to have standard room, building and school facilities for
it helps to improve the overall quality of the learning environment as well as
the quality of education. Just for example, having a classroom that is well
ventilated, spacious, good lightning, lots of learning materials and it is clean,
surely learners would be motivated to focus on their studying that would result
to excellent performance.
3. What are the requirements for the establishment of a new
elementary/secondary school? Explain each.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SITES


STANDARD REQUIREMENTS SITE

The size of the site must meet the requirement of enrolment and kind of school
as well as the recreational needs of the pupils.

1. One half hectare (1/2 Ha) for barrio school, which has only 1 or 2 classes
and no grade above Grade IV.

2. One hectare (1 Ha) for a central school, which has six classes, or for non-
Central School, which has 3 or 4 classes.

3. Two hectares (2 Ha) for schools, which have seven or nine classes.

4. Three hectares (3 Ha) for schools, which have from 10 or 12 classes.

5. Four hectares (4 Ha) for schools, which have more than 12 classes.

4. State and explain the important consideration in naming and renaming


of schools?

a. Section 99(d) of Republic Act No. 7160 (local Government code of


1991) authorizes the Local Sanggunian to change the name of schools through
an ordinance, with the Local School Board as the recommending body. In
addition, all public schools may be named or renamed by the President
through a proclamation, or by Congress through legislation. Thus, approval by
the Department of Secretary on the naming and renaming of such schools is no
longer necessary, pursuant to DepEd Order No. 29, s. 2011 entitled “revised
Guidelines in the Naming and Renaming of Schools.” For purposes of this
order, all the provisions of said DepEd Order No. 29, a copy of which hereto
attached as Annex B, shall remain in full force and effect.

b. all public high schools with DepEd School IDs are considered national
high schools. The renaming of public high school into a national high school
shall be done consistent with the provisions of DepEd Order No. 29, s. 2011.

c. For purposes of monitoring and updating DepEd records, the School


Head shall furnish the concerned DepEd officials/units in the central, regional
and schools division offices, especially the person in-charge of EBEIS with a
copy of Municipal or City ordinance approving the naming and renaming of
school.
5. State the required elementary classroom equipment which is approved
by the CHED Department.

6. What is an instructional material? And why we need to use it?

It is also known as teaching/learning materials (TLM) are any collection


of materials including animate and inanimate objects and human and non-
human resources that a teacher may use in teaching and learning situations to
help achieve desired learning objectives. Instructional materials may aid a
student in concretizing a learning experience to make learning more exciting,
interesting and interactive. They are tools used in instructional activities,
which include active learning and assessment.
7. What are the classification of instructional materials and give example.

1. Visual material – such as picture, diagrams buildings, projectors,


teacher themselves, chart, real objects (realia) studies etc. these materials such
as books, newspapers journals, magazines, pamphlets, handout, or modules
were also involved.

2. Audio materials- such as tape recording, cassette, radio,


teleconferencing, language laboratories, teachers voice. They appeal to the
sense of hearing.

3. Audio-visual materials- which include the television, video recording


motion pictures with soundtracks, slide and films trips projection with sound
tapes, films, and multimedia. They appeal to both sense of hearing and sight.

4. Materials/Software- include graphic materials, printed materials,


slide, filmstrips, overhead transparency, cassette tapes and motion pictures.

5. Equipment/Hardware- these includes the blackboards, tape recorders,


projectors, and video recorders. They are used in presenting materials, static or
display that used in presenting materials or lectures.

6. Electronics- this comprises of radio, computer, e-mail, multimedia.


These teaching materials makes teaching and learning process easier and
concrete.

` 7. Non-projected media- includes books and other printed materials,


objects, specimens. Models’ mock-up graphical materials, bulletin boards that
exhibits, black boards, field trips, simulation, and games.

8. Who are the stakeholder in school plant management and


administrative control and explain their roles.

The Stakeholders in school plant management and administrative are


the ff:

 Regional Director- plans and manages the effective and efficient


use of all physical and fiscal resources of the region office,
development, and establishment of procedures in monitoring and
supervision of divisions/ school.

-Exercises overall administrative control over all public elementary


and secondary school facilities throughout the region.
-Provides guidelines to the administrator of each school with
regards to the care and maintenance of the educational facilities
and school property in it.

- Prescribes rules of hygiene and orderliness to be observed in all


public elementary and secondary school facilities in the region.

 Schools Division/ City Schools Superintendent- Plans and


manages the effective and efficient performance of all physical and
fiscal resources of the division including professional staff
development.

- Exercises general superintendence over all public elementary


and secondary school facilities within the division.
- Examines the school buildings occupied for public instruction
within the division with a view to determining their suitability
and hygiene condition.
- Exercise’s control over the use of all provincial and municipal
school buildings and grounds in the division.
 District Supervisor
 Principal/School Head- Defines the educational objectives and
physical resources.

- Plans and supervises over the construction of school buildings.


- Works out the acquisition, survey, and registration/ titling of
school sites.
- Inspect the public elementary and secondary schools under his
charge, evaluates/ assesses their condition, and makes
appropriate reports and recommendations to the school’s
division superintendent.
- Plans and carries out a rationalized acquisition program to meet
standard requirements.
- Oversees the maintenance, beautification and sanitation of the
educational of the school plant.
- Recommends opening of new schools and annexes, renaming of
schools, as well as closure of schools, in accordance with
respective guidelines set for the purpose.
- Creates an environment within the school that is conducive to
teaching and learning.
- Develops the school education program and school
improvement plant.
- Administers physical and fiscal resources of the school.

9. Why do we need good physical facilities in school? And state the


criteria of good physical facilities.

An effective school facility is responsive to the changing programs of


educational delivery, and at a minimum should provide a physical environment
that is comfortable, safe, secure, accessible, well illuminated, well ventilated
and aesthetically pleasing.

MINIMUM STANDARD REQUIREMENTS FOR SCHOOL SITES:


1. School facilities must be planned for the instructional program.
2. School facilities must also be planned for flexibility to anticipate educational
as well as a social change.
3. An equally important principle is that the school involves people.
4. The scarcity of resources relative to wants and needs make it imperative that
the only spaces for which validated functions can be specified to be planned
into school facilities.

LOCATION- it should be in a wholesome environment, safe from traffic and


transportation hazards, sufficiently free from noise, dust, smoke, and other
undesirable elements. It should be provided with adequate facilities for
drainage and sewage disposal. It should be adequate to meet the needs of the
present school population and its future expansion. The school should be
accessible to present and anticipated school population by means of public
transportation or school bus. It should have satisfactory road network and
sidewalks.

CRITERIA
1. School to be established is an urgent need in the area to be served as indicated
in the project feasibility study.
 Kindergarten to Grade 6- at least one (1) school for every
barangay.
 Grades 7 to 10- at least one school for every municipality/city.

2. the proposed establishment of school must be supported by the LGU.


3. The proposed school must have at least 100 pupils/students composed of one
or more grade levels.
In case the aforementioned criterion is not met, the SDS shall make necessary
justification.

4. There is no private high school participating in the Government Assistance to


Students and Teachers in Private Education (GASTPE) Programs of DepEd; or the
GASTPE recipient school(s) has reached its allocation or number of available
slots. In case where the aforementioned criteria is not met the SDS shall make
the necessary justification.

10. What is physical plant and its importance in academic performance?


Explain.

Physical plant (or known as physical facilities) for education comprises


lands, buildings, and furniture. It includes physical facilities in teaching spaces
and ancillary rooms. The school facilities consist of all types of buildings for
academic and non-academic activities, equipment for academic and non-
academic activities, areas for sports and games, landscapes, farms and
gardens including tress, roads and paths.
