Les deux soirs de Roch Hachana, différents aliments sont consommés pour symboliser nos prières et nos

espoirs pour une douce nouvelle année. Parmi ceux-ci, de nombreux aliments furent choisis car leurs noms

hébraïques sont proches de termes qui expriment nos souhaits pour l’année qui commence.1 Une prière

accompagne la consommation de ces mets, exprimant nos vœux liés à ces mots.2 On récite chaque prière en

tenant l’aliment dans la main droite, immédiatement avant de la manger.

Avant Roch Hachana, procurez-vous les ingrédients suivants :

 Dattes

 Haricots blancs

 Poireaux

 Betteraves

 Courge

 Grenade

 Pomme (chez certains : cuite dans du sucre) et miel

 Tête de bélier (ou de poisson)
