General Physics 2
Name: Cristine Joy R. Ebcay Section: 12-F

Guided Questions:

1. Why do people experience electric shock?

- People will experience electric shock when they have contact with an electrical energy source. The
electrical energy will flows through a portion of the human body causing a shock. Exposure
to electrical energy may result in no injury at all or may result in devastating damage or death.

2. What is the difference between semiconductor and a superconductor?

- These are the two types of the conductor which are the superconductor and the semiconductor:
A superconductor is a type of material that acts strangely when cooled down to a certain
temperature. When these materials reach their critical temperature they suddenly become perfect
conductors. While the semiconductor, on the other hand, is a material that has a conductivity
somewhere between that of a conductor and an insulator

Practice Exercises 1.2

1. The lenses of the eyeglasses are being cleaned using a nylon cloth. In doing so, which become
positively charged? Assume that the lenses are made of glass.
- The glass will lose it electron because the glass has a lower electron charge than the nylon cloth
which, it will make the glass have a positive charge and the nylon cloth will have a negative charge.

2. 2. If in the process of rubbing the lenses of the eyeglasses, 6.28X10 10 electrons were transferred,
(a) what is the charge of the lenses and the nylon cloth? (b) What is the change in their masses?

Guided Questions:

1. How is the magnitude of the electric force exerted by a charged particle on another charged particle determined?

-  The magnitude of the electric force that a particle exerts on another particle and is directly proportional to the product
of their charges and it also have a inverse proportional to the square of the distance between them. The direction of
the force is along the line joining the particles

2. What are the similarities and differences between electric force and gravitational force?

- Their similarities is they have owned fields and have potential lines. But, they also have differences the electric force
can be both repulsive and attractive but, the gravity it only attract things. Electric force is also a result from the charges
while the gravitational force is from the mass.
