Unit-7Ac Topic-Tissues
Question and Answers from page 12 & 13 (Student’s
Textbook)
3a) Name two tissues found in the heart?
And-Fat, muscle
3b) What does each of these tissues do?
Ans-Fat protects the heart; muscle moves the heart
4) A pathologist says that the liver in photo D comes from
someone with ‘fatty liver disease; Compare it with the
healthy liver in diagram B on page 8. What evidence
supports the pathologist’s conclusion?
Ans-You should spot that the two liver are not the same
colour and the one in photo D appears to have spots in it.
The spots are the same colour as the fat tissue in the heart
in photo B:this is evidence that the liver in photo D has fatty
liver disease.
5) Your intestine move, so that food is pushed along. What
tissue would you expect to find in intestine?
Ans-Muscles
6a) What sort of organ is carrot?
And-Storage organ
6b)How many tissue does a carrot contain? Explain your
reasoning.
Ans-At least two of: From photo F, a central disc can be
seen surrounded by an outer disc with slightly different
colouration. These are essential two tissues. There are also
smaller area of different colours and these are other tissues
(e.g. Phloem tissue that carries sugars down into the root to
be stores).
7a) Name two tissue you would expect to find in a radish
plant root?
Ans-Root hair tissue, xylem tissue
7b) What does each of these tissues do?
Ans-Root hair tissue takes in water: xylem tissue transports
water in the plant.
8)Name a plant organ that is above ground and contains
xylem tissue.
Ans-Stem or leaf
9)Which life process does xylem tissue help with?
Ans-Nutrition
Unit-7Ad Topic-Cells
Question and Answers from page 16 & 17 (Student’s
Textbook)
1) What is a cell?
Ans-The basic building blocks from which all organisms
are made.
2)Granville was able to see much more in the mummy
tissue than Hooke saw in the cork tissue. Why was this?
Ans-Granville’s microscope had a better magnification.
3)What do organisms always have that things that have
never been alive do not?
Ans-Cells
4a)Look at photo D. What are the dark blobs?
Ans-Nuclei
4b) What do these structure do?
Ans-Control the cell
4c) What other parts would you find in a heart muscle cell?
Ans-Cytoplasm, cell surface membrane, mitochondria
6a) Draw a table to compare the parts that can be found in
animal cells and plant cells?
Ans-

7a) What makes some plant cells green?

Ans-Chloroplasts or chlorophyll
7b) Which are bigger,choloroplasts or
mitochindria?Explain your evidence.
Ans-Chloroplasts are clearly visible in in plant cell but
mitochondria are not/
