ABSTRACT

According to literature review the dispersion symmetrical compensation was better than the
other two compensating techniques. In this work we compared the dispersion symmetrical
compensation using DCF at (2.5, 5 and 10) Gbps for different values of input power using
120 Km of SMF and 24 Km of DCF with transmitting wavelength 1550 nm. The parameters
used in comparison of the performance for different data rates were BER, Q-factor and Eye
diagram. The Q-factor depends on the data rate and the input power. After analysis of the
three values of data rates (2.5, 5 and 10) Gbps we found that Q-factor depends on the data
rate and the input power and 2.5Gbps data rate is better than 5 and 10 Gbps to obtain better
signal at receiving end.
