1. Introduction

This document is aimed to provide information needed to upgrade the software and
firmware of the “SAT 600” instrument.
The document is divided in four main sections:
• Uninstall of previous version of FDM software;
• Install of new version of FDM software;
• SAT 600 Firmware upgrade;
• SAT 600 Software upgrade.

2. Uninstall FDM software

Step 1

Select the Start mask of Windows® and verify

the presence of the FDM600 software.

NOTE: If the software has not been installed,

go directly on the Step 5.

Step 2

Select the “Remove FDM600” option from the

Start mask of Windows®.

Step 3

Select “Yes” in the confirmation mask in order

to uninstall the FDM600 software.

Step 4

Wait until the Uninstall message will be shown.

Click on the “OK” button in order to complete
the process.

3. Install new FDM software

Step 5

Make a double click on the

“FDManager600ext rel.1.0.6.exe” file in
order to install the new FDM software.

Step 6

On the Choose Destination Location mask,

press the “Next” button.

Step 7

On the Finished mask, press the “Close”

button.

Step 8

Copy and paste the new firmware file

STM32F407_167.hex inside the folder
C:\FDManager600ext\FW.

4. SAT 600 Firmware upgrade

Step 9

Start the FDManager600ext software making a

double click on the shortcut created on the
Windows® desktop.
Step 10

As soon as the FDManager600ext software

starts, verify the presence of reset string with
the indication of the actual firmware installed
along with an acoustic beep from the Analytical
Control board.

NOTE: if the reset string or the beep is not

present verify if the COM Port selected is
correct and eventually change it.

Step 11

Press on the “FDT Download” button in the

FIRMWARE area and confirm the firmware
upgrade clicking on the “YES” button.

Step 12

Select the new firmware file

STM32F407_167.hex inside the folder
C:\FDManager600ext\FW and press the
“OPEN” button.

Step 13

Wait until the upgrade procedure is completed.

Verify the presence of reset string with the
indication of the new firmware installed along
with an acoustic beep from the Analytical
Control board.

Step 14

Press the “EXIT” button in order to close the

FDManager600ext software.

5. SAT 600 Software upgrade

Step 15

Start the SAT 600 “open” software installation

making a double click on the
Sat600_REL_1_1_74.exe file.
Wait until the procedure is completed.
Step 16

Start the SAT 600 “closed” software installation

making a double click on the
Sat600_REL_1_1_74c.exe file.
Wait until the procedure is completed.
