KEY CONCEPT

Hymn- a lyrical composition expressive of religious aspiration, petition, confession, communion, or

praise. It is neither a poem alone nor music alone. Types of Hymns: True hymn, Psalms, Spiritual
Songs, Chorales and Gospel Hymn. (Explore page 30 to know more about Hymns.)

Points of View
There are three stand points or points of view in narrating a story.
1. The all-knowing point of view (omniscient)
2. The first-person point of view
3. The third-person point of view
The point of view contributes to the author’s establishment of tone and mood since the narration
is dependent to his/her perspective. (To know more about this, study page 49-50.)

Sermon- a lecture given by someone in authority of a religious institution such as priest, pastor or
minister through speech. Learn more about this on pages 54-56.
