CONDUCT

Prior to the assessment activity as an assessor this will be the following: establish the
assessment context and purpose of the assessment familiarize self with the qualifications or units
of competency to be assessed like assessment context, assessment methods, like rating sheet,
time limit; ensure that the assessment site complies with relevant occupational health and safety
requirements such as complete set of safe and functions equipment and service, complete set of
supplies and materials the assessor guide and rating sheet and personal protective equipment,
notify the candidates of any source that they have to bring during the assessment.
As an assessor I will explain during the orientation to the candidates: explain the context
and purpose of the assessment process, explain the qualification or unit of competency to be
assessed and the evidence to be collected, outline the assessment procedures to be undertaken,
assess the needs of the candidates to be establish and allowable and adjustments in the
assessment procedure, seek feedback regarding the candidate’s understanding of the
qualifications’ unit of competency being assessed, evidence requirements and assessment
process, make all necessary announcements just before to start the assessment and specify the
do’s and don’ts inside the assessment centre.
The purpose of giving orientation to the candidate is to be aware of the assessment
procedure.
To make sure that the candidate taking the assessment is the same person in the
application form by re-checking the picture of the admission slip as you call the candidate.
To make sure that the candidate understands the task to be prepared by asking questions
and clarifications to the candidates.
The do’s of an assessor while observing the candidates are giving specific instructions to
the candidates clearly and smoothly, observe carefully the specified time limit proceeded in the
assessment package, allow the candidate to raise questions before the start of the assessment,
stop the candidate if accident imminent. The don’ts of an assessor during the assessment not to
disturbed the trainees while performing their respective task.
During interview or oral questioning, when the candidates answer is wrong, I will not
directly provide the correct answer immediately instead I will re-phrase the questions to make it
easy and understandable by the candidate.
The basis of assessment decision is the performance criteria checklist is asking oral
questions.
In feed backing, it should be clear, constructive and in positive ways on the assessment
decision. Information on ways of overcoming any identified gaps in competency by the
assessment.

SUPERVISE LEARNING SESSION

As a trainer, I will identify and establish relationship with potential participating

companies; was the industry partner appropriate for training required? Has the industry partner
design the training objective and to your expectation? Has the industry partner welcome you and
treated you with respect and understanding?

Yes, I will write training plan for my student, to identify the trainees, the training
requirements, training activities, mode of training, staff involved, facilities, tools and equipment,
venues assessment arrangement, and the date and time.

Before I send my students to participating company, the preparatory activity that I will do
is the institutional orientation. It is important for them to undergo their institutional orientation
for their knowledge about the task.

In monitoring their performance, it will be based on the TRB, progress sheet and
achievement chart.

If the participating company will make an unfavourable remark about the performance of
the student, I will treat as one as a trainer with outmost confidentially and I will approach for a
dialogue.

I will evaluate the effectiveness of the work based learning through training session
evaluation form, interpret and analyse the evaluation and address the issues concern from
evaluation form.

FACILITATE TRAINING SESSION

As a trainer, the activities that I did before the arrival of my students are: preparation
training facilities and resources based on session requirements. The shop layout specified
locations for the CBT areas and the learning stations for each competency.

The events that happened in this particular session are the following; opening prayer,
recap of activities, unfreezing of activities, feedback of training. Based on these events, it is
student centred.

The learning materials are CBLM, E-book, manuals, textbooks, CD’s and videos that will
be the constant learning materials.

The questions that usually did as a trainer are: did you get trainees? Do you have any
questions or clarifications? It is necessary to ask these questions to ensure the trainees are ready
for the following topics.

Participation upon the students is very important since our target is student centred. As a
trainer I usually give group activities like brainstorming, panel discussions, role playing, pair
match discussion and others.

In managing class activities, we are using training activity matrix to locate the
workstation of the trainees and identify the trainers’ different workstations. The use of Trainer’s
Record Book (TRB) also can manage the class activities. Through TRB the trainees know or
aware their accomplishments.

In facilitating a session, this adult learning principle that I always consider learning is
most productive when the student is ready to learn. Although motivation is internal, it is up to the
trainee to create a climate that will nurture motivation.

The used of performance criteria checklist. There is no need to make improvement on the
tools because using these tools the current competencies of the trainees is identified.

In giving feedback, we should give the positive comments first in order to give the
student confidence and gain his attention. All the comments should be based on the observable
behaviour and not assumed motives or intent. None, it is because these are the proper way of
giving feedback to the students.

Yes, I ask the student to evaluate the session because; evaluation is the basis of
improvement.

MAINTAIN TRAINING FACILITIES

DISTANCE LEARNING

The training equipment are Panasonic Telephone and Fax machines, laptop, etc.

The major maintenance involved in housekeeping schedule are clean and check wiring
connections and possible scratches for telephone, Fax Machine and other devices properly.
Clean and check lobbies floor, walls, windows and ceilings and inspect air
conditioning equipment.

The procedure in requesting additional equipments and facilities is

institutional procedure.

The SOP of the institution is having the Record book and it should be
organized.

The institution’s waste disposal system is using the 3R’s which are Reuse,
Reduce, Recycle. In order to maintain the cleanliness of the school.

The record book that contains the date and time, the person in-charge and the
signature so that if there is an equipment to be found out of order it can be
easily to track down.

PLAN TRAINING SESSION

What is session plan? What are the content of the session plan and the significance of
each? What are the things that can be learned from the session plan?

I got the answer to my own question from the self-assessment checklist, data gathering
tools, proof of evidences.

The components of session plan are learning contents in which the learning contents in
which the learning outcome can be found, methods (demonstration and discussion), presentation
(information, task and job), and practice (self-check and task sheet), feedback (compare and
criteria checklist), resources (CBLM, hand-outs, and equipment) and time allotted.

Tools that congruent to your topic and that could be your training method.

In organizing learning events, we have to follow the sequence according to Robert

Gayne. We have the gaining attention, informing learner’s objectives, stimulating recall of
learning, presenting stimulus, providing learning guidance, eliciting performance, provide
feedback, assessing performance and enhance retention and transfer.

The assessment method I choose for particular session plan is performance checklist,
portfolio and questioning tools. Yes, through this method the learner can learned.

Assessment tools must be able to measure the appropriate content. Validity means
measurement or evaluation. Cost effectiveness means time factor.

It is necessary to prepare a table of specification when preparing the written test to

increase validity of written test. It is the dimension of the assessment such as the following
knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation.

The learning principles in my mind in preparing a session plan are the adult will learn
only what they feel, they need to learn and the adult want their learning to be practiced. A good
trainer is always a generous of knowledge.
