BUILDING INFORMATION MODEL (BIM)

26.1    The Contractor shall, within one month after the date for commencement
of the Works, prepare and submit a BIM Implementation Plan to the
Project Manager for review without objection. The implementation plan
shall include the setup, resources, IT infrastructure, the strategy, and in
particular the approach and use of BIM techniques in construction to
ensure that the Works are built in accordance with the requirements of
the Contract. The Contractor shall, within one month after the date for
commencement of the Works, appoint a BIM Manager for the overall
management and coordination of BIM implementation.

26.2 The Project Manager will issue a multi-discipline 3D model (BIM model)
to the Contractor within three months after the date for commencement
of the Works. The Contractor shall, within three months after receipt of
the Employer’s BIM model, review the same to identify any clashes
between different elements of the Works and clashes between the
Works and the works of Other Contractors, propose solutions to such
clashes for review without objection by the Project Manager and finalise
the BIM model in compliance with the BIM specification as specified in
Appendix P. This BIM model once reviewed without objection by the
Project Manager as aforesaid shall become the Contractor’s BIM model
for the Works.

26.3 The Contractor shall use the BIM model to develop the design of the
Works or the parts of the Works to be designed by the Contractor under
the Contract incorporating among others elements used in the
manufacture and fabrication of the Works. The Contractor shall also
incorporate all design changes instructed by the Project Manager into
the Contractor’s BIM model. The Contractor shall submit monthly BIM
progress reports to the Project Manager for review without objection.
The report shall highlight all design changes, clash resolutions and
other pertinent design details throughout the design development of the
Works. The Contractor shall lead and organise regular BIM meetings
including its subcontractors as appropriate to ensure that the
Contractor’s BIM model is updated timely to achieve proper design
development and coordination for the Works.

26.4 For construction, the Contractor shall use the BIM model to
demonstrate constructability of any significant work including any
elements or activities that have an impact on Other Contractors or
airport operations and support the proposed construction method
statements including such issues as construction phasing/sequence,
temporary works, traffic management, delivery and lifting arrangement,
etc. To achieve this, the Contactor shall provide 4D simulation and walk
through videos with details as agreed with the Project Manager to
demonstrate the construction phasing/sequence and logistic
arrangement of the Works using the 3D BIM model and the associated
programmes.

26.5 The Project Manager with the support of a BIM Consultant will conduct
regular BIM compliance checks on the Contractor’s BIM implementation
as well as the updated BIM model. The Contractor shall cooperate and
work closely with the BIM Consultant to ensure full compliance of the
Works with the specified BIM requirements.

26.6 The Contractor shall prepare and integrate an on-site 3D laser-scanned

model of the Works completed to the as-built BIM model to verify that
the Works are built in accordance with the design and submit to the
Project Manager for review without objection at different stages of
construction. The Contractor shall submit the final as-built BIM model at
level of details (LOD) 500 to the Project Manager for review without
objection eight (8) weeks prior to the date for substantial completion of
the Works.
