Authorization Registration
! Caution

KMS-CP authorization registration

Authorization registration must be performed to use KMS-CP.
Use [USBKEY] that comes with the Setup CD to perform KMS-CP authorization registration.
! Caution
If using NT series Windows, the settings must be performed by a user with a Power User or higher
authorization.

! Caution
60 days of use are given when authorization is not performed. When the 60-day period has expired, KMS-CP
will not start up.

The following method can be used to perform authorization when KMS-CP authorization registration has
not been performed.
1. The ID registration dialog box is displayed by pressing the button on the [System Setting] screen.
2. Insert USBKEY included with the Setup CD into the USB port and click the button to execute
registration.
3. When registration is completed, a message will be displayed. Click on the [OK] button to close the ID
registration dialog box and complete the authorization registration.

! Caution
The data file used at the authorization is stored on the USBKEY.
Be careful not to format the USBKEY before the authorization.
In addition, because the USBKEY checks the connection periodically after every authorization, be careful not
to remove it.

After the authorization registration, if the USBKEY is pulled off or if the USBKEY cannot be recognized
because of a malfunction, KMS-CP displays the message of authorization error.
* “Authorization Error” is displayed periodically until the authorization is performed again.

KMS-CP can be used for 30 days even after the “Authorization Error” display occurred. When the 30-day
period has expired, KMS-CP will not start up.
* When a USBKEY malfunction occurs, as reissue of the USBKEY is required, contact Komori service.

When changing the computer of KMS-CP, KMS-CP can be used continuously by performing the authorization
registration with the same USBKEY.

Database Maintenance

Overview of database maintenance

KMS-CP uses an SQL Server 2005 database server to manage the jobs, maintenance, etc.
The database capacity is limited, so operation can be kept within the limited capacity to maintain the
KMS-CP functionality of long-term storage of the required job histories, and printing press maintenance,
by deleting data for which the storage period has expired (data optimization).

Data storage period

The storage period of the data for each item is determined as follows.
Item Storage period
Job history 12 months
Operation Log 12 months
12 months
Maintenance management
* There is no storage expiration period for maintenance inspections and
(error history)
part replacement histories.

Message
A message recommending data optimization is displayed once a month.
Pressing [Yes] will delete data for which the storage period has expired, in order to optimize the data.
Pressing [No] will not perform optimization, but the message encouraging data optimization will continue to
be displayed periodically.
The optimization may take time depending on the amount of registered data, so make allowance for that
when optimizing.
Data optimization can also be performed in the system setting of the administrator setting.
For details, refer to System Settings <System Settings>

07800EN.bmp

Job history protection function

Protected job histories will not be deleted when optimizing the data even if the storage period has expired.

Backup tool overview

Periodically backing up the KMS-CP data allows the data to be recovered when there is a malfunction and
prevents the loss of deleted job data or programming data.
Backup is largely divided between database and file backup, and periodic backup of the former in
particular is recommended.
Please note that KMS-CP operations cannot be performed while the backup tool is running.
