UNDERSTANDING THE SELF

LEARNING TO BE A BETTER STUDENT

ACTIVITY XII

Make a list of your “Top 5 Tips/ Secrets for Studying” based on your personal experiences/ preferences.
Write your answer on the space provided below.

My Top 5 Tips/Secrets for Studying

1. Have a fixed time on when you want to study. For me, I don’t study (unless needed) until three
or four in the afternoon. I like to have my mornings for myself or other things. Also, plan on
when you want to do different readings or assignments.
2. Have intervals. When I make my written outputs, I play games when I don’t have ideas to add on
my paper. It helps in refreshing my thoughts about the topic or cancel my laziness. I make sure
to only play 1 or 2 games (depending on how long the game takes) so that I still have time to do
my paper.
3. Don’t worry if you do not understand what you’re reading just leave the materials. When I don’t
understand the material, I usually space out or scroll on Facebook. Others say that you should
turn your phone off but doing other things makes me clear my thoughts or have another
perspective about my topic. When I am feeling lazy or sleepy, I leave my materials to go look for
food or anything. Sometimes I just open the fridge, search for something then close it without
taking anything. Just go to a bright place it helps clear my mind. New sceneries help me wake
up and ready myself for another studying session.
4. Try to study in a quiet place. It has always been hard to study when other people are around
you, especially now with at home learning. If you can, ask others to keep it quiet so you can
study peacefully.
5. Answering questions in paragraph form. After reading the topic, I like to copy and paste what I
searched on the internet and what I read on my modules. I add my thoughts about the topic and
then move on to the next number and do the same thing. The next day or the day I planned to
do the assignment, I reread everything that I copied, pasted and my wrote. I usually understand
the topic better and have more thoughts about the topic and I will be able to answer the
questions easier.

study because I am sure that I have other things to do like chores, etc.

Read and study the subjects that I don’t find as hard as other subjects. This way, I can

DAY 3 focus and have unbothered time with the easy subjects.

Read and study the last subjects I left. These would be the subjects that I find the

DAY 4 hardest. I would also make sure that I have the whole day for studying to be able to

have as much time as I needed to understand the materials.

I would skim or reread and note down important details or ideas in every material given.

DAY 5 I will answer questions about the topics. I can look for answer sheets online or make

my own. There might also be questions in the given materials.

I will go over or read the topics that I was not able to answer yesterday. I could look for

DAY 6 other source materials of the topics and read them carefully. I will make sure to have

some hours to relax myself so I could be ready for tomorrow.
