As a young Muslim you must live your life in

accordance to the teaching of Allah SWT in the
Qur’an. Such these work sheets were designed to
enhance your knowledge on how to show
reverence to Allah by reciting and reading surah
az-Zalzalah. Kindly read and understand the
direction carefully to get the correct answer.

Gearing Up
Let as read the verses of surah az-Zalzalah and its meaning.
Read an Arabic verse and you read the meaning and values taken from the surah
 Bismillah Hir Rahman Nir Raheem
In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful

Izaa zul zilatil ardu zil zaalaha

1. When the earth is shaken with its [final] earthquake

Wa akh rajatil ardu athqaalaha

2. And the earth discharges its burdens

Wa qaalal insaanu ma laha 

3. And man says, “What is [wrong] with it?” –

Yawmaa izin tuhad dithu akhbaaraha

4. That Day, it will report its news

Bi-anna rabbaka awhaa laha

5. Because your Lord has commanded it.

Yawma iziny yas durun naasu ash tatal liyuraw a’maalahum

6. That Day, the people will depart separated [into categories] to be shown [the result of] their
deeds.

Famaiy ya’mal mithqala zarratin khai raiy-yarah

7. So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it,

Waman y’amal mithqala zarratin sharraiy-yarah

8. And whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.
About the Sūraĥ

The main topic of Sūraĥ az-Zalzalaĥ is about the end of the world. Earthquake will strike our
earth and ruin it.

After we return to our Creator, He will reward or punish us in accordance with our good and
bad deeds. Those who did good deeds will be rewarded. Those who did bad things will be punished.

Meanings and Values Taken from the Sūraĥ

When you recite this sūraĥ, you will learn some meanings and values from it. Among the
important meanings and values you get from Sūraĥ az-Zalzalaĥ are as follows:

1. The greatness of Allāh SWT who created everything

2. The absolute power of Allāh SWT who can do whatever He wants and no one can stop Him
3. The condition of mankind is nothing compared to the power of Allāh SWT.
4. Because of man’s weakness, he needs the help of Almighty Allāh SWT all the time.
5. Some creations of Allāh SWT are stronger than the power of mankind.
6. Because a human being is equipped with reason, he/she controls other creations of Allāh SWT.
7. Mankind must return to his Creator by way of death.
8. All creations of Allāh SWT will perish. It’s the end of their earthly lives.

Sūraĥ az-Zalzalaĥ is about the end of the world. Earthquake will
