Work Instructions Using Fluke 5520A Multi-product Calibrator

Introduction
The Fluke 5520A Multi-Product Calibrator sources direct voltage and current,
alternating voltage and current with multiple waveforms and harmonics, two
simultaneous voltage outputs or voltage and current to simulate DC and AC power
with phase control, resistance, capacitance, thermocouples and RTDs.

Cleaning and Inspection

 Clean and dust the main equipment prior to use. Clean the Calibrator with a soft
cloth dampened with water or water and mild soap.
 Inspect the calibrator before use.
 Make sure the connections to AC outlet are intact.
 Consult the manufacturer’s manual for the safety instructions.
 In compliance to the manufacturer’s manual, the calibrator must be warmed up,
to a maximum of 30 minutes.

Environment
 The calibrator must be operated within the prescribed temperature and
humidity:
Temperature: 19 °C - 25 °C
Relative Humidity: 40 % - 80 %
9.0 Calibration and Measurement Procedure

A. Voltage Measurement

I. DC Voltage
To set a DC Voltage output at the Calibrator NORMAL terminals:

1. Press the RESET key to clear the Calibrator output.

2. Connect the Calibrator to the UUT.
3. Set the UUT to measure DC Voltage.
4. Enter the desired voltage output (up to 7 digits).
5. Press +/- to select polarity. The default is positive.
6. Press a multiplier key, if necessary.
7. Press the key V.
8. The Control Display shows entered value.
9. Press the ENTER key. The output value appears on the Output Display
10. Press the OPR key to activate the Calibrator output.
II. AC Voltage
To set ac voltage output in volts or as a power output in dBm (referenced to a
selectable load impedance) at the Calibrator NORMAL terminals:

1. Press the RESET key to clear the Calibrator output.

2. Connect the Calibrator to the UUT.
3. Set the UUT to measure AC Voltage.
4. Enter the desired voltage output (up to 6 digits).
5. Press a multiplier key, if necessary.
6. Press the V key (for voltage).
7. Control Display shows entered value.
8. Enter the desired frequency output (up to 5 digits).
9. Press a multiplier key, if necessary.
10. Press the Hz. key. The Control Display shows entered value.
12. Press the ENTER key. The Output Display changes to the entered values of
Voltage and Frequency.
13. Pressthe OPR key to activate the Calibrator output.
14. Check the readings on the UUT.
