Smoking has many harmful effects on the body, so it is important to reduce or avoid it altogether. It is also
important to prevent young people from trying it. The best we can do about this problem is educate and support
people who are addicted to cigarettes.

The following are some of the diseases and conditions caused by smoking.

1. COPD
COPD or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a disorder in which the patient has difficulty breathing. A
person with COPD often dies early. As time goes on, the patient has more difficulty breathing, and even reaches
the point where even climbing stairs is no longer possible for the patient. Two diseases are included in COPD.

(A)Emphysema
This disease gradually destroys the air sacs of the lungs. The patient has progressive difficulty breathing.

(B)Chronic Bronchitis
This disease is inflammation of the bronchial tubes, and enlargement of sputum.
2. Asthma
It is a good idea for people with asthma to avoid smoking because it can aggravate and intensify the onset of
this disease.

3. Cancer
The most common type of cancer caused by smoking is lung cancer. According to studies, smoking can also
cause cancer in various parts of the body, including kidney, liver and stomach cancer.

4. It affects the reproductive system

Male and female smokers can have difficulty conceiving. The baby's health can also be affected when his
mother smokes while he is in her womb.

Drinking too much – on a single occasion or over time – can take a serious toll on your health.
Brain:
Alcohol interferes with the brain’s communication pathways and can affect the way the brain looks and works.
These disruptions can change mood and behavior and make it harder to think clearly and move with
coordination.

Heart:
Drinking a lot over a long time or too much on a single occasion can damage the heart, causing problems
including:

Cardiomyopathy – Stretching and drooping of heart muscle

Arrhythmias – Irregular heartbeat
Stroke
High blood pressure

Liver:
Heavy drinking takes a toll on the liver, and can lead to a variety of problems and liver inflammations
including:
Steatosis, or fatty liver
Alcoholic hepatitis
Fibrosis
Cirrhosis

Pancreas:
Alcohol causes the pancreas to produce toxic substances that can eventually lead to pancreatitis, a dangerous
inflammation and swelling of the blood vessels in the pancreas that prevents proper digestion.

Immune System:
Drinking too much can weaken your immune system, making your body a much easier target for disease.
People who drink chronically are more liable to contract diseases like pneumonia and tuberculosis than people
who do not drink too much. Drinking a lot on a single occasion slows your body’s ability to ward off infections
– even up to 24 hours after getting drunk.
Quitting smoking and drinking are not easy here are some tips on how to avoid cigarette and alcohol.
1. Find a good reason.
It’s not easy to quit smoking and drinking, so everyone who wants to quit needs inspiration to get started. For
others, they stop so they can set a good example for their children.

2. Find a good hobby.

It’s a good idea to look for something to take care of besides work. When you are always busy, you don't think
much about smoking and drinking.

3. Avoid stress.
Often people who quit smoking and drinking return to using it because of fatigue and stress. To reduce stress,
it’s a good idea to do something else that will relax you.

4. Exercise
Exercise can be a great help to someone who wants to quit smoking and drinking. As you exercise, you will lose
your mind about your bad habit. When you stop smoking and drinking, you can immediately feel its effect on
your stamina. Exercise also helps a lot in reducing stress.

5. Find friends who can be a good influence on you.

People who have experienced the difficulty of quitting can help you a lot. They can give you additional
