Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

PFT- Conducted for the purpose of establishing testing protocols considered to


be more current and appropriate for the Special Program in Sports (SPS) and in
the new K to 12 program.

Passing the prescribed standards in the Physical Fitness Test is a


requirement for admission in the SPS. Moreover, under the
curriculum, Physical Fitness is one of the major goals of the Physical
Education Program and shall be incorporated/adopted in the PE
curriculum from grades 4 to 10.

Two categories – Health Related and Skill Related

Health Related: Cardiovascular Endurance, Muscular Strength,


Muscular Endurance, Flexibility and Body Composition.

Skill Related: Agility, Balance, Coordination, Speed, Power, and


Reaction time.

“Athletes” is derived from the Greek word “Athlos” meaning “Contest”.
