A Proposal for a recommendation report on
Application of Supply Chain Management Strategies to Indian Agrarian Economy

1 Introduction
1.1 Purpose

We propose to research and produce a report on Application of Supply Chain

Management Strategies to Indian Agrarian Economy to fulfil the course requirements of
INDE 6359 – Engineering Communication 1, Spring 2021.

1.2 Background

INDE 6359 requires a formal report on an engineering topic of our choice. The closest
topic to our field of study is the Application of Supply Chain Management Strategies to
Indian Agrarian Economy. We are interested in improving the current Supply Chain
related to Indian Agrarian Economy.

1.3 Scope

Our research project will help in accentuating the existing Supply Chain model of the
agricultural produce in India. The project will further help in boosting the agricultural
economy.

2 Discussion

2.1 Approach

Our proposed report will start with the introduction of the existing Supply Chain of the
Indian Agricultural Industry and the underlying problems in it. The report will then go in-
depth on representing the historic data of demand-supply and short fall and surplus of the
produce in the Indian Agricultural Sector. Specific areas include implementing a
communication channel between the farmers, traders and the consumers. We will then
explore the challenges that are currently being faced by the stakeholders.

2.2 Result

Our proposed report will provide in-depth technical analysis and improve the current
Supply Chain structure of the Indian Agricultural sector for the betterment of the Indian
economy. We will also provide the challenges we face while implementing our proposal.
The report will also fulfil the formal report requirement for INDE 6359 – Engineering
Communication.

2.3 Statement of Work

To achieve the goals of this research, we will accomplish the following tasks:

Task 1: Research and review the current Supply Chain system of Indian Agricultural
Sector (4 hours).
Task 2: Research and document various Supply Chain models (3 hours)
Task 3: Analyse and study several communication channels (3 hours)
Task 4: Review and predict the challenges that can be arise while implementing a new
communication channel (4 hours)
Task 5: Produce and deliver a formal poster for the technical presentation (2 hours).
Task 6: Produce and deliver a technical presentation in class (2 hours).
Task 7: Produce and deliver a formal report document in accordance with the course
syllabus requirement (6 hours).

3 Resources
3.1 Personnel
Consistent with the requirement of the course, we will be doing all the research and
writing on this project. All the group members have prior experience of producing written
reports to meet academic requirements. Additionally, we have access to IEEE resources
including engineering professors and the writing centre if assistance is needed.

3.2 Facilities and Equipment

6
The university provides adequate research and document facilities for this project. We
have access to high-speed internet, a number of software programs and printers.

4 Costs
4.1 Fiscal

As provided in section 2.3 (statement of work), 24 hours of our labour will be required to
complete this project. Each team member will work from home and access to UH library
search is 0$. Other sources used from the university of Houston included tuition cost of
3hour credit course. Labour will be based on entry salary of an industrial engineer. The
following table presents the fiscal cost for the period of project.

Course tuition 3 X $900.00 = $2700.00

Labour $42.00 X 24 hours = $1008.00
Wi-fi from Xfinity $75.00 /month X 2 months = $150
Total for each team member $3858.00

4.2 Time
The team will accomplish all tasks in a 6 Week period, where the final report will be with
a presentation and a scientific poster. This will be submitted based on following schedule.
 Scientific poster: April 10, 2021.
 Report: April 24, 2021.
 Presentation: May 1-6, 2021

5 Conclusion
5.1 Summary
The INDE 6359 – Engineering Communication-1 requires a formal recommendation with
a presentation and a scientific poster on a topic related to industrial engineering. We will
be focussing on Application of Supply Chain Management Strategies to Indian Agrarian
Economy.
