(a) Solve the quadratic equation 2x – 3x – 7 = 0 and give your answer correct to 3 significant figures
(b) A copper wire of diameter 6 mm is evenly wrapped on a cylinder of length 18 cm and diameter 49 cm to cover its
whole surface. Find:
(i) The length of the wire (ii) The volume of the wire
(c) A recurring deposit of Rs 1200 per month has a maturity value of Rs 12440. If the rate of interest is 8% p.a., find
the time of the deposit.

(a) In triangle ABC, right angled at B, BD is drawn perpendicular to AC. Prove that AD x CD = BD2
(b) A dealer A in Bihar buys an article for Rs 5000 from dealer B in Punjab. Dealer A sells this article for Rs 6000 to
dealer C in the same state. If the rate of GST is 18% at each stage, find:
(i) The amount of GST dealer A pays the state and central government.
(ii) The price including GST paid by dealer C

(a) The polynomial 2x3 – 7x2 + ax – 6 and x3 – 8x2 + (2a + 1)x – 16 leaves the same remainder when divided by x – 2.
Find the value of a.
(b) A tent is in the shape of a right circular cylinder up to a height of 3 m and then becomes a right circular cone with
a maximum height of 13.5 m above the ground. Calculate the cost of painting the inner surface of the tent at Rs 4
per m2 if the radius of the base is 14 m.
(c) If x sin3A + y cos3A = sin A cos A and x sin A = y cos A, then find the value of x2 + y2
