DESCRIPTIVE TITLE: Advanced Technical Communications

CREDIT UNITS: 3(3 hours lecture)

PRE-REQUISITES: English 1013

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course emphasizes the principles and strategies of good technical communication, both
written and oral, and requires practice in applying them to present technical and scientific material
informatively and clearly. It is specifically designed to allow students from different majors in the technical
field to interact and communicate with each other and with various other audiences about subjects their
disciplines may have in common. The course involves applied, activity-based collaboration and therefore
relies heavily on a team approach to learning.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES


After completion of the course, the students should be able to:
CLO 1: Realize the importance of technical communication in their career;
CLO 2: Apply basic skills and strategies important in technical communication (audience and purpose
analysis, organization, style, document design, graphics development, editing, and
proofreading);
CLO 3: Prepare professional technical documents, in both electronic and print format;
CLO 4: Collaborate with students from different fields to communicate about topics relevant to several
professions
CLO 5: Manifest Christian values in all activities related to technical communication
