Course Module 2 Children and Adolescent Literature
Activity
1. What is your favorite memory from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory was every time my father comes home. My father worked abroad for several years so I grew up with just my mother by my side. And it’s nice having my father around, its different when you are complete especially celebrating occasions. 2. What did you like to do when you were a child? I like playing with my cousin before. We had the best childhood memories together.
Exercise
1. What is the meaning behind the poem?
From what I understand, the poem is all about our life’s journey. There will be a time where we experience happiness, grief and make life choices, chose and meet people that will help or teach us a lesson that will make us grow. And even if we had everything, we will still end the same, death. And our journey and life choices will either make a mark to the people we left. 2. What is the tone of the poem Where the Sidewalk Ends? This poem’s tone is serious because it talks more about life. 3. What exactly does the sidewalk represents? The sidewalk clearly represents our journey, the way we live our lives.
Assessment
1. What is the meaning behind the sidewalk ends?
The sidewalk ends means the end of our lives, death. 2. What best describes the place “Where the Sidewalk Ends”? Since the sidewalk ends represent death, then I think the place where we will end is either, nothingness, heaven or hell. Reflection
Write a reflection about this question:
1. ”Why do I have to go back to those crappy, emotional childhood
memories” Our memories either good or bad made us the person we are today and it is nice looking back at it because it’s nice to know that we learned from it. It actually made my life more meaningful and interesting. 2. ”What does my inner child have to do with my life now? As I have said, everything that happened to me especially in my childhood has made a great impact to my life. And I got to be genuinely happy at least in this lifetime.
