Dear Parent,

As your child is progressing from Grade VIII to IX, it is time to select the subjects based on
his/her aptitude and interest. This is a very important milestone in his/ her academic career and
we request you to encourage your ward to select the subjects after a thoughtful consideration.

All students opting for O-Levels are required to study a total of 9 subjects. English, Urdu,
Mathematics, Islamiyat and Pakistan Studies are compulsory for all Pakistani National students..
Other than these, every student must choose four optional subjects as per his / her interest and
aptitude.

Please go through the instructions for Subject Selection carefully so that you and your child can
get a clear picture of the available courses/streams in the O Level Section of our campus.

In order to provide more clarity on subject choices, the school will organize an online orientation
for parents on Monday, 12th April 2021 at 4:00 pm. The link of this meeting will be
communicated shortly. You are requested to read the following instructions carefully. You may
drop any question/concern you have (related to subject selection) on the link below by Thursday
8th April 2021. You are requested to access this link through your ward’s beaconite ID.

Guidelines for Subject Selection: IX- Cambridge 2021-2022

1. Compulsory Subjects
All Grade IX students have to study the following five compulsory subjects:
English Language
Urdu Syllabus A
Mathematics
Islamiyat
Pakistan Studies

2. Science Group

Science Combination 1 Science Combination 2

Physics Physics
Chemistry Chemistry
Computer Science Biology
All Science students have to choose their
fourth compulsory elective from the list of
9th subject

3. Commerce Group

Commerce Combination
Accounting
Business Studies
Economics
All Commerce students have to
choose their fourth compulsory
elective from the list of 9th subject

For both Science and Commerce streams, the 9th subject can be anyone from the list given below.
● Additional Mathematics (offered only if the child has secured at least 75% in Class VIII Mathematics)
● English Literature
● Global Perspectives
● Sociology
● Environmental Management
● Art and Design
● Biology (if Computer Science is your third subject)
● Computer Science (if Biology is your third subject)
● Accounting (if you have chosen Science stream)
Note: Your subject choices will be collected via Google Forms, for which a link will be provided after
the online orientation with parents. Stay Safe!
