UNIT 1 EVALUATION (15%): Advertising Campaign

General objective: To present an advertising campaign for a company focused on the environment.

Task: You have been called to join a team of experts in the field of advertising and marketing. The company that hired
you wants to develop a new advertising campaign. It needs to be focused on the environmentally friendly spirit of the
company (and/or its products/services). You need to create a proposal for a “green campaign”.

General Instructions:

1. Gather up in groups of 3.
2. Choose a company to work with. You can use the same company you researched about during the first semester
or choose a new one.
3. Discuss the company’s characteristics and its products and services. Is it environmentally friendly? What
improvements can you suggest in that area?
4. Think of ideas for a new advertising campaign for your company, focused on the environment.
Tip: Remember you can focus your campaign on a new product, a service, or even the company itself. You do
not need all the information to be real, since you will be creating the campaign. You can take it in any direction
you want to make it environmentally friendly.
5. Create a PPT to present your ideas.
6. Prepare your ideas and practice them as much as you can. It’s an oral presentation, NOT a reading exercise.
Tip: Imagine you will be pitching your proposal to the board.
7. Present your proposal.

Specifics:

1. Time: Your presentation must be between 5 - 8 minutes.

2. Content: Make sure you use appropriate grammar (in your script and PPT) and use vocabulary from Selling (Unit
9) and New ideas (Unit 10).
3. Visual Aids: The limit number of slides for your PPT is 10 max. Aim for a balance between images and text.
Tip: Make sure the images you use help you to emphasize your point. You can be as creative as you want. Do not
worry about combining images or using different resources to make your point.
4. Style: As usual, try to sound as natural as possible. Remember it is a formal instance as well.
Tip: Avoid sounding like a robot. You are pitching your campaign idea!
5. If you need to clarify, repeat or correct anything, use the appropriate expressions (sorry, excuse me, etc.) and
continue.
6. You will be assessed as a group, so all members must take part in the presentation. Remember one of the main
objectives of this assignment is to improve teamwork! Make sure you rehearse together before the
presentation.

Presentations: Week 4 – 19th to 23rd Oct

 Session 1: Tuesday 20th – 11:30 am

 Session 2: Friday 23rd – 11:30 am

*If any doubt, let your teacher know!
