Verbal communication include sounds, words, language, and speech.

Speaking is an effective way of communicating and helps in expressing our


emotions in words. This form of communication is further classified into four
types, which are:

Verbal communication includes words languages and sounds. It can be


written and oral.
It is an effective way to express emotions. It has four types.

1. Intrapersonal Communication
This form of communication is extremely private and restricted to ourselves. It
includes the silent conversations we have with ourselves, wherein we juggle
roles between the sender and receiver who are processing our thoughts and
actions. This process of communication when analyzed can either be
conveyed verbally to someone or stay confined as thoughts.

Intrapersonal communication is when some talk to himself. In this he


performs both the role of sender and receiver. It also called silent
conversation. Like when a person thinks about his behaviour and actions.

2. Interpersonal Communication
This form of communication takes place between two individuals and is thus
a one-on-one conversation. Here, the two individuals involved will swap their
roles of sender and receiver in order to communicate in a clearer manner.

Interpersonal communication is a communication between two persons. In


this, the role of sender and receiver is on sweeping. It most commonly used in
an organization and help it to work properly.

3. Small Group Communication


This type of communication can take place only when there are more than two
people involved. Here the number of people will be small enough to allow each
participant to interact and converse with the rest. Press conferences, board
meetings, and team meetings are examples of group communication. Unless
a specific issue is being discussed, small group discussions can become
chaotic and difficult to interpret by everybody. This lag in understanding
information completely can result in miscommunication.

In small group communication more than two people are involved in


communication. Each person has the opportunity to communicate and
interact.

Group communication
In group communication people of round about same skills & responsibilities
work together on a project. It is use on small level projects.

Team communication
In team communication people of different skills and responsibilities work
together on a project. It is use for high level projects.

4. Public Communication
This type of communication takes place when one individual addresses a
large gathering of people. Election campaigns and public speeches are
example of this type of communication. In such cases, there is usually a single
sender of information and several receivers who are being addressed.

In public communication one person communicate or address to several


receivers. Sender of information is single person and there a lot of receivers.

interCultural communication

The communication which is done among the people of different culture. It


involves pattern of actions. When massage is send it is ensure that the
massage is useful and understand by the reciver.

Mass communication
In mass communication, one people, one organization or few persons
communicating to a lot of people. Receiver have not direct link to sender.

Communication flow

Vertical communication

Flow of information up & down in the organization. Like subvordinate to


superior or superior to subordinate. It happens in all level of organization.

Downward communication

It is the flow of information from superior to subordinate. It contains order,


goals, advice, information, plans of organization. By this employees are more
efficient and more clear about their job.

Upward communication

It is the flow of information from subordinate to superior. It contains reports,


requests, room for improvements in organization. It helps in decision making
for upper management.

Horizontal communication.
Communication between one department or section to another of same level.
Communication among colleagues.It helps in sharing information, ideas and policies
among officers or workers.

Lateral

Communication take place in departments side by side in an organization.like

Diagonal communication

Refers flow of information serves as link between two departments. Like pu


admin office communicate with all departments.

Grape wine communication

It is informal way of communication in an internal. i n this communication status and


position are not given much importance. It is hidden and informal way of communication.
Like conversation over a tea.
