 PREFACE

First of all, I would like to thank Almighty God who has given me His
blessing, health, and guidance in finishing this paper entitled “LIA REUNION
PARTY: BRING NOTHING, GO HOME WITH SOMETHING”. This paper is
made to fulfill the requirements to graduate from Conversation VI level at LBPP-
LIA Palembang.
Secondly, I would like to thank everybody who has helped me in

 CHAPTER I

BACKGROUND

LB (Institute of Languages and Professioanl Education) LIA has been

founded since 1959 with its own history. One of the vision and goals of this

institute to create the best students who can compete in the real life when they are

already got an english education from this institute.

Since this institute is already have a hundred thousand students who

scattered in all provinces in Indonesia with their various professions and

educations especially in Palembang. Based on this situation, we can assume that

the students have many relations in the work life that they can share with the other

students who still in college or high school.

But, an achivement that already reached by the success student could be

useless if there is no place to share about their story and being a motivation for

somebody else. Because in essence, a human does not live alone but live together

and communicate each other.

A relationship and communication are the most important thing to receive

and share any information. Indeed, as long as the technology always develop it

becomes simply easier to communicate and share information through the social

media. However, it is better if the communication is done directly by face to face

as well as having a relationship between alumnus and students.

Sometimes, a reunion event has a bad side and being uneffective because

peoples are only sit and take a photo, there is no benefit after the reunion event.
This why, we should add more beneficial activity which can bring a big good

impact to others. Such as planning a program to give a contribution in a social

field like a charity event or another activities.

Sounding an event is making a promotion of some thing indirectly. In this

technology era, where all people can access the internet and social media through

all the kinds of information that they can get. Not only social media but also

sounding an event using a poster, announcement board, and the other tools of

advertising are getting easier nowadays.

Therefore, as a student of LBPP LIA, I am interested to make a reunion of

LIA student where we could invite all of the alumni of LBPP LIA to have a

chance to building a network, planning routine program as a contribution to

public and being indirect promotion of LIA.

 CHAPTER II

OVERVIEW

2.1 LBPP-LIA

LB LIA is an intitution which engaged in formal and non formal education

services, especially in english education. It was found in 1959 and begin with

Lembaga Indonesia Amerika also known as LIA, and then change into

Perhimpunan Persahabatan Indonesia Amerika or PPIA. The mission of PPIA is

to increase the relationship between these two countries. To be more carry out its

mission in education field, in 1986 LIA foundation was established and separated

with PPIA. Since that year, LIA is a name for an institute of education and not an

acronym anymore. LIA foundation held a general education both in formal and

non formal. While PPIA still running its vision in culture field.

LB LIA has many branches in several cities in Indonesia. One of the branch

is in Palembang city. LB LIA Palembang is located in Jalan Jendral Sudirman No.

2953, Palembang, Sumatera Selatan. This institute has been found since 1978. It

has five programs; English for Children, English for Teens, English for Adult,

Conversation in English and TOEFL Preparation. Recently, LB LIA Palembang

has two new programs; TOEIC Preparation and IELTS Preparation.

2.2 Reunion

Reunion is a positive event that the main purpose is to keep a good

relationship between old friends. Reunion is also a place where someone can

flashback the old days that have been passed wether it is a good or bad memories.

The general purpose of this event is to show off a better new side of someone
elses.

Some people interpret the reunion from the negative side because it close to

hedonism. But, it all depends on the one who responsible with this event. If it is

for building a network, so it will be good and positive.

2.3 Proposal Of Event

IX. THE PURPOSE OF EVENT

Inviting the alumnus of LIA Palembang to gather in an event

with a purpose to build a good network both in education and work

field. Make a good coummunication and relationship between

alumnus to plan a social event program which means that it will give a

good impact for LBPP-LIA Palembang through the promotion by

social media, poster, and etc. Besides, the alumnus themselves will get

the good feedback from this event with a new network and relationsip

becuse in this event will attended by the different term, year and class

program.

IV. NAME AND THEME OF EVENT

“LIA ALUMNI REUNION PARTY” and the theme is “BRING

NOTHING, GO HOME WITH SOMETHING”

III. AUDIENCES

The audiences of this event is alumni of LIA who already

success will be invited personally, and the other alumnus will invited
 by sharing an invitation by social media, poster, and announcement

board. Then, selling the tickets which means that the one who want to

join must register first because a limited quota.

IV. TIME AND PLACE OF EVENT

Date : Sunday, July 8th 2018

Time : 10.00 till end

Place : Ballroom Grand Atyasa Convention Center Palembang

V. FORM OF EVENT

Round Table Group Discussion is an activity that consist of

more than 6 peoples in a round table. In every round table, the

participant can talk freely related to the work life with another

participants in those round table. There will be a sharing session

where the participants can giving questions and answers freely.

Round Table Contribution Planning consists of the same

participants with round table group discussion. In this part, the

participants asked to discuss and make a plan to make an activity as a

contribution to public.

VI. PARTICIPANTS OF THE EVENT

Alumni of LBPP-LIA Palembang who are interested to join this event.

VII. VII. LAYOUT OF COMMITTES

The committe of event “LIA REUNION PARTY” is the active

students and some alumnus of LBPP LIA. The layout of the

committes will be in Attachment I.

 The rundown of LIA Reunion Party will be in Attachment II.

IX. BUDGET OF EVENT

The list of budget will be in Attachment III.

X. CLOSING

So, this all the proposal of activity is made correctly. We greatly

hope that this activity will be done well. Therefore we ask for help and

support from all the parties that will be responsible for this event.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those who

have helped us, with the approval, support and participation since the

preparation of this activity.

2.2 THE BENEFITS OF HOLDING LIA REUNION PARTY

2.2.1 Building A Network

Having a chance to be in a big event with some important person is a

good thing for ourself. In this digital era, mostly people who are in a big

event only come, sit and busy with their own smartphone, and do not care

about the situation around them. As a result, the reunion done nothing after

it held. This why in this reunion event will be put a several amount of

people in a round table where the participants can discussing, sharing,

asking and answering about anything.

They can also build a business network or job field with many people

from various kind of occupation by sharing their identity card. So, they can

keep in touch each others even after this event has been done. Here are the

procedures of this activity:

1. 1. Sit in a random round table

There will be around 20 round tables for the participants and the crew

will put them randomly in different round table. Every round table will

be filled by more than 6 peoples.

2. 2. Jog That Memory

After the participants put in a random round table, the crew they will

show with a slide show of a random old pictures of some events and the
 participants will be asked to guess the pictures.

3. 3.Who’s next to you?

There will be an attendance list in every round table, and the rule is

everybody must remember the name and a little personal information of

the members in their round table. Here is the example of the list

4. 4.It’s Time To Talk!

The participant can talk about anything with the other participant in

the same round table.

2.2.2 Planning a routine program as a contribution to public

It is already mentioned in the previous point, the participants will be

put in a different round table related to the business network and job field.

Besides, they are also will be asked to discuss to plan a routine program as a

contribution to public. It does not have to be a big event, it can be a small

thing that can give a big effect to public. Then, it will be discuss again with

the committe of LB LIA Palembang about the plan that will be chosen to be

a routine program.

The routine program such as blood donation, free english class,

charity event, and etc. That is suitable with LB LIA commitment in CSR.
 CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) is a commitment to give a

contribution to public to overcome unemployment, poverty, giving an

education and art. And it basically comes from the fact that an organization

system depends on the environment around it. Because of this situation, an

organization needs to pay attention to the society around them (Kast

2003:212)

2.2.3 Being indirect promotion of LB LIA

Making a big event means that the promotion is needed especially if

the event will invite a lot of people to join. In this technology era, there are

various ways to promote something by using different media such as social

media, advertisement, poster, etc. Most of people can access the internet

easily and also have many kinds of social media that make us can promote

this event easily and faster in many kinds of social media. If we do this, we

will invite all the alumni as participants of this event through all the social

media which means it indirectly becomes a promotion to LB LIA itself

because many alumni will share and repost on their own page.

According to Tempo.Co, Jakarta, the total of instagram user in

Indonesia on 2017 almost reach 45 million users. Bayne and Cianfrone

(2013) finds that social media marketing was effective in increasing

awareness, and the study served as an empirical foundation for future

research. So, instagram can be one of the most effective way to promote this

event hence many people will see the advertisement.

 CHAPTER III
CONCLUSION AND SUGGESTION

LB LIA has been founded since 1959 with its own history. Since this

institute is already have a hundred thousand students who scattered in all

provinces in Indonesia with their various professions and educations especially in

Palembang we can assume that the students have many relations in the work life

that they can share with the other students who still in college or high school. This

why if we make a reunion party for LIA student, we will have a chance to

building a network, planning routine program as a contribution to public and

being indirect promotion of LIA.

First, you will have a chance to meet some important people that you can

ask freely about their way to be success in sharing session, you can also build a

business network with someone who have a different occupation with you. In this

reunion event will be put a several amount of people in a round table where the

participants can discussing, sharing, asking and answering about anything.

Second, The participant will be asked to discuss to plan a routine program

as a contribution to public. It does not have to be a big event, it can be a small

thing that can give a big effect to public. after the participants plan a charity event
we will have a routine program as a contribution to public such as a blood

donation or free english class.

Third, making a big event means that the promotion is really needed.

Especially, if the event will invite a lot of people to join. Most of people can

access the internet easily and also have many kinds of social media that make us

can promote this event easily and faster in many kinds of social media. If we do

this, we will invite all the alumnus as a participants of this event through all the

social media which means it indirectly being a promotion to LB LIA itself.

Because many alumni will share and repost on their own page.

In brief, holding LIA Reunion Party is a good thing because it will give

some benefits. Not only for alumni or LIA students, but also for LB LIA itself.

And this event will be the first reunion that ever held by an english institution or

general english course.
