DOS AND DON’TS

Self-isolation:
It is an effective precautionary measure to protect people around you – your family, friends,
visitors – from contracting COVID-19. We know it’s a stressful time, but taking these
measures will help protect you, your family and others as well.

Monitor your Health:

• Take your temperature with a thermometer two times a day and monitor for fever
• Watch for cough or trouble breathing
• Wear a mask if you develop a fever or cough or if distancing is not possible
• Report if you are unwell in any way
• Stay home and avoid contact with others
• If you have elders (> 60 years) or persons with illnesses, avoid contact with them for
14 days
• Keep your distance from others (ideally about 6 feet)
Rooms and Bathrooms:
• If possible, use a dedicated bathroom and bedroom
• Cleaning of this room should be reduced to as-needed, to avoid unnecessary contact
• If a separate room is not available, maintain a distance of 3-6 feet between people
• If a separate bathroom is not available, the bathroom should be cleaned and
disinfected after each use if possible.
• Keep open windows and well-ventilated rooms

Visitors:
No visitors to the house

Deliveries:
Can come to the door

Meals:
• Do not share dishes, drinking glasses, cups, eating utensils, towels, pillows or other
items with others
• After using these items, you should wash them thoroughly with soap and water
• Wash the clothes separately, preferably in a washing machine

Cleaning and Disinfection:

• Frequently touched surfaces- tables, door knobs, light switches, handles, desks,
toilets, faucets and sinks
• Household cleaner and disinfectants diluted household bleach solutions can be used
if appropriate for the surface

Maintain Hygiene:
• Wash your hands often with warm water and scrub with soap for at least 20 seconds
before drying your hands thoroughly
• You can also use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if your hands are not visibly dirty
• Wash the child’s hands as well every time
• Good hand hygiene is one of the most effective ways of reducing the risk of infection
to you and to other people. If you live with others, they should also wash their hands
regularly as a precaution. Encourage everyone in the house to wash and use sanitizer

Useful items:
Tissues, sanitizer, surface cleaners with disinfectants
