Final Assignment

Fairy Tales
In pairs you will submit a written assignment to show how traditional fairy tales have
developed. Select a traditional fairy tale and find different versions of it. Have in mind
that the selection you make must reflect the different stages in the development of
children’s literature and present cross cultural versions. The selection can include films,
poems, videos and the like.

Remember to:

 Write one (or two) introductory paragraphs in which you state what you are
going to work with, what you are going to do with that material and what you
are going to show in your piece of writing.
 Write a body in which you:
- Find similarities and differences among versions that show the development
of the genre (you could include the information in a Venn diagram but do
not forget to explain why these differences or similarities are important).
- Identify the elements of Fairy Tales present in your versions.
- Identify and analyze the changes in the different versions and how they
account for changes in society and culture.
 Write a conclusion in which you explain how important or not fairy tales and the
one you chose in particular are to our society.
 Include all texts and links to videos or films in the appendix.
Include all the sources you consulted in the references. Write the sources you consulted
or quoted from in your essay This should include not only books, essays, articles (or
other sources of printed material), but also links to videos or other material you and the
reader must have access to online.
 .You can use somebody else’s ideas but
- you have to paraphrase them and write in your text as Zohar Shavitz explains in
The Notion….
- or use inverted commas if you are going to quote, write the surname of the
author in brackets.

Your assignment cannot be longer than five pages (A4) without taking into account
the presentation page and the appendix. (Use Times New Roman 12 or Ariel 11 and
1,5 spacing).

This assignment has to be uploaded in google classroom in a word document (not

google docs) by all the members of the group The deadline is Tuesday, August 12th
10:00 am
