THE DAY INDIA BURNED

The documentary shows insights about the partition of India in 1942 after the British left the
nation Muslims realizing the majority community being Hindus hence demanding for a separate
nation. Hence, the two self-governing countries of Pakistan and India legally came into existence
at midnight on 14–15 August 1947. This documentary mainly targets the youth of the nation, the
students who are keen to know how India was formed and why Pakistan was divided from India,
that help them know about the rich history of our nation. This documentary is the answer to the
entire question related to the partition. It aims to enlighten the various events that took place after
the partition and creating two nations West and East Pakistan. The director shows a third-person
view of the partition without being biased on a particular religion or a cast.

Any person with basics knowledge shall easily understand the documentary and shall expect
various events that caused the start of the religious disputes among the country, which any
person would intend to know before getting into such subject and could be understood by any
person whether Indian or not. I also look forward in knowing about how where the borders were
drawn, the reason, and also the people affected by it. The documentary is subject to the point of
view of various people who were affected by the partition; also the different perspective
regarding the various event and disputes took place. The documentary includes the various
events of the riots that took place mainly in the areas where people were migrating such as the
Calcutta, Lahore, and Punjab regions. The documentary was filmed in British India that includes
footage of various regions of India and Pakistan at the time of the British Raj.

Accepting the fact of the footage being from the late 1940s, the video was clear and acceptable.
The voice and sound effects are excellent and sharp. There is footage of interviews being taken
of the people who were part of the events which was very informative and help get to know
about their experience at the time of partition. The youth have India has always seen many
religious riots and discrimination of casts and finally learned the reason behind such riots which I
liked the most. The British knew that India is a powerful nation and therefore played a major role
in causing the conflicts, hence giving a lesson to the viewers to be united And I would also
recommend this documentary to my friends, also my cousins so that they get to know about the
facts behind the disputes that took place for a year and continuing and would expect them to be
unbiased upon a particular religion or caste and be united as a nation.
