MOTION

 A body is in a state of motion if its position changes to another body that it used as the frame of
reference
 Imagine you are on the side of the road is straight and long. Your current position in A.

Dari A, Anda berjalan menuju C melalui B. Sesampainya Anda di C, Anda membalik dan kembali
berjalan lalu berhenti di B.
In the event the above, how far is the distance you traveled; also how far your displacement ?
Is it the same the definition of of distance and displacement?

DISTANCE AND DISPLACEMENT

• Distance (S) is the actual length of the path travelled by a body
• Displacement (∆S) is the change in the position of a body between its initial and final position
Speed and Velocity

Mathematicly:

S = Distance (m)
t = time (s)
v = Speed (m/s)

Questions:

1. An object moves from point A to point B to point C, then back to point B. The line shown in the
figure below. Find the magnitude and direction of the displacement of the object

A. 13 km, west
B. 9 km, east
C. 17 km, east
D. 5 km, East
2. Hannah leaves her house to go to the library. She walks 400m east along East Street and then
300m north along North Street to reach the library. Calculate the distance and the displacement

A. 100 m & 700 m

B. 700 m & 200 m
C. 700 m & 500 m
D. 500m & 700 m

Jawab: distance= 300 m +400 m = 700m

Displacement=√ 3002 +4002 = √ 90000+160000= √ 250000=500 m

3. If a car travels 18,000 meters in 30 minutes, what is its average speed?

A. 1 m/s
B. 6 m/s
C. 10 m/s
D. 20 m/s

Jawab: V= s/t = 18000m/1800s = 10 m/s

4. Velocity is a vector measurement because it has both a magnitude and a ....

A. time
B. distance
C. direction
D. temperature

Jawab: scalar = magnitude (nilai)

Vector=magnitude + direction

5. A body moves with a uniform velocity of 180 km/hour. It starts to move at 05.15 and stops at
05.20. How far does the body travel?
A. 15000 m
B. 30000 m
C. 45000 m
D. 60000 m

Given: v= 180 km/hour

t= 5 minutes = 5 x 60 = 300 s
Asked: s

Answered: s = v x t

km m
v = 180 =…
hour s

km 180000 m
v = 180 =
hour 3600 s

km m
v = 180 =50
hour s

s = v x t = 50 m/s x 300 s = 15000 m
