A Short History of the US

Who discovered America? (Christopher Columbus). Columbus “discovered”

America in 1492. Truth is, America already had inhabitants, that were later
called native Indians.
Most historians give the credit for discovering the Americas to Columbus because
it’s existence was unknown to Europe before his voyages.
Why did Columbus venture out from Europe to explore? (expected answer/s:
conquer new worlds, to find china/india, barter/trade)
Answer: He wanted to find a western sea route to China, India, and the fabled
gold and spice islands of Asia.
If his target was the US, he would have gone this way. [click screen to activate

However, at that time, they believed that end of the world is to the west so he did
not venture there.

A Short History of the US

Most immigrants escaped from their native countries because of war, political and
religious oppression, hunger – they wanted a new life. Back then, these
immigrants occupied different areas that created territories, which in turn,
became states. Back then England and the European Union overtaxed Americans.
13 territories fought back during the Revolutionary war. Territories that did not
join the revolution did not become part of the country when they declared
American independence in 1776. Canada (occupied by the French) maintained
their territories. In fact, Queen Elizabeth II of England is still queen of Canada.
