CHAPTER 1

“The Fascinating Approach”

A gentle breeze was blowing South-west of Katima Mulilo, and Peter was jogging down the road
to help him lose weight. Vero, a little precious 15-year-old lady, was sitting while taking some
selfies, enjoying the bird songs and the sunset. They both lived in the same town and first met
about three years ago. “I adore watching sunsets. I wish I could have been here with Peter to
witness this together. “I enjoy his presence,” said Vero, who was snapping the sunset and had no
idea that Peter was behind her. Fortunately, the wind kept him from hearing anything.

He noticed two people in front of him but far away while jogging. They appeared to be looking at
something on the phone. Trendy and one of his best friends, Simi, were watching some funny
elephant videos on an iPad. When they saw Peter jogging, they burst out laughing and joked,
"Peter, jogging, is for people with tummies, not you. You're already slim." They both burst out
laughing.

Where are you from? Peter inquired.

They exchanged awkward glances before exclaiming, "Stone City!"

Peter was disappointed. “Why didn't you invite me along?” He asked.

We assume you enjoy jogging. Continue! Trendy chuckled as he looked into Peter's eyes.

Simi said to Peter as they laughed: "We're wasting your time, fish. Continue your work."

They went their respective ways.

It wasn't enough for Vero. She couldn't keep up with the pace of time. She didn't have as much fun
that day as she usually did, but she had to go prepare her dinner. Simi and Trendy took a detour.
They didn't see Vero on her way back home. Peter took a cab back to his house.

Vero was bouncing a tennis ball on her way back home when it deviated from her path. She went
to retrieve it. While picking up her ball, she noticed Peter's picture, which had been blown there
by the wind from his pocket while he was jogging. She came to a halt. For a few seconds, her heart
stopped beating. She was madly in love with Peter, but he was ten years her older. Getting into a
relationship was the issue. She knew that being in a relationship with him at this point would be
considered a crime (GBV). This did not bother her too much. She jumped home, overjoyed. She
fell in love with him the more she looked at the picture.

On the other side, things were not the same. Peter did not believe what she believed. He had no
idea what was going on inside Vero's head. She got home and started cooking, but she didn't eat.
She felt stuffed. Apart from Peter, she had nothing else on her mind. She decided to express her
feelings about him by writing two sentences on a piece of a red paper. It was written as follows:

Peter, please say you’ll wait for me. I will grow up some day and you’ll see, I will be saving my
kisses just for you. Peter, please reply. This is true.

I LOVE YOU PETER!

Giving the paper to Peter was the most difficult task she had ever faced. Fortunately, she had
thought of a picture. It might make things easier for her.

Peter went jogging down the road late in the afternoon, as he always did. Vero, went to take
pictures at sunset as well. She saw Peter from afar while sitting sun kissed. This gave her plenty
of time to prepare for him.

"Did I bring the picture? Oh, thank God! It's here. What am I going to say?" She was talking to
herself.

She glued a paper she had written to the back of the picture.

Hello, Peter!

Peter! Peter!

She yelled at Peter, who was about to pass her by.

Peter couldn't hear her because he was jogging with his headphones on full blast.

She picked up a small stone and threw it at his feet.

"Who are you throwing stones at me like this?" Peter exclaimed arrogantly. Without realizing it
was Vero.

Vero, somewhat embarrassed. I apologize for trying to stop you with a stone. I did it because you
couldn't hear me shouting your name. Please accept my apologies.

Peter with a calm expression on his face. “You are not required to apologize. It's my fault because
my headset is set to maximum volume. It's not even healthy.” Lowering the volume while
speaking.

Hey, Are you all right? Peter asked with a smile.

Vero: No, I'm fine. Thank you very much.

Peter: So, what's the problem? Do you need assistance?

Vero: Yes.

Peter: How may I assist you, dearest?

Vero: (almost shivered because Peter's voice was too sweet) umhmnn..... Nothing, I mean, I don't
require assistance. I am here to assist you.

Peter is taken aback! (His mind was preoccupied with a variety of questions.) You are, of course,
welcome.

Vero: I brought your picture. I found it on the side of the road yesterday.

Peter was overjoyed because he had no idea where he had put the picture. His grandmother needed
it in her living room, and it was the only one left. He didn't have anything to give Vero as a reward.
Instead, he hugged her tightly.

“Thank you very much. “I needed this,” Peter said with joy.

"You're welcome," Vero said gently. She was angry because she had missed her beloved's picture,
but this was the only way she could express her feelings to Peter.

Peter continued jogging, and Vero returned home immediately.

"Mission accomplished," Vero said to herself, smiling.

Peter had no pockets to put the picture in, so he put it under his T-shirt. While jogging, he felt
something sticky on his belly. He tried to see what it was and realized that it was because of the
sweat and put it back. After a few minutes, it became worse and the red paper was about to fall off
from the picture because of sweat. It was the glue sticking to him. He stopped and removed the T-
shirt. The love red letter fell down.

Did he notice it? Nobody knows for the time being!

CHAPTER 2

“The Red letter Day”

It was starting to get late. He was about to proceed when stepped on the stone, he lost his balance,
and fell. He saw a red paper on the ground and picked it up. It was dripping wet and sticky. He
quickly realized it was the one sticking to him. He took his time reading it.

He read it again:

Peter was at a loss for words. He was both happy and sad because Vero was too young for him.
He wished he could have followed her, but it was too late. He was looking forward to the next day.
The night had been far too long for both of them. Vero was waiting for the response, and Peter
was planning what he would say to Vero the next day.

Zzz! zz! Zzz! zzzz! Zzz! Zz! zz! Z

(Vibrations)

Peter’s phone ringing

He dashed over to the phone, picked it up, and answered it. Hello, Vero!

"Hello, grandson," a grandmother said. It had to be his grandmother. Peter had was just thinking
about Vero. He mistook her for the one who was calling.

Peter: How are you doing, grandmother? Why are you calling so early in the morning?

Grandma: You know, I need your picture so badly. You made a promise to me last week, grandson.
(This is followed by laughter.) Bring it now before it goes missing. You are the only grandchild
who is not present in my living room’s wall. Please quickly. Bye!

When he looked at the red paper, he was thinking about Vero even more. He didn't know where to
go first. Vero or Grandmother. Peter was perplexed! He later decided to take the picture first and
then return to Vero.

He fell in love with Vero the more he read the red letter, but it was impossible for them to be in a
relationship because of Vero’s age, unless he could wait until she turned 18 years old. That would
be 3 years.

Peter found it difficult to tell Vero the truth about his feelings about waiting for her. Peter walked
confidently over to Vero's house and inquired if she was present. A young boy informed him that
she had just left to visit her friend Ellen. Ellen's house was only a short distance away. Peter went
on to Ellen’s house which was the next. Vero and a friend were watching movies. Peter calmly
knocked and inquired if Vero was available. Ellen did not hesitate to call Vero and inform her that
Peter had requested her. She had no idea what was going on between them at the time. Vero's
mood shifted. When she heard the name Peter, she shivered. "Excuse me, who?" she asked, her
voice stuttering.

Ellen responded jokingly, "Come to your boyfriend." Vero was terrified. She was at a loss for what
to do. Peter was sweating as well, and his heart was racing as he saw Vero coming from the house.

Vero was encouraging herself to be self-assured.

Peter, how are you today? What brought you here this time? I didn't expect you to show up. Is
everything all right? She inquired.

"I'm fine, thank you." Peter responded. "You're asking too many questions at once." He cracked a
joke. "Which one will answer first?" sarcastically continued.

Ellen burst out laughing. She expected Vero to laugh as well, as they usually do. Ellen realized
right away that something serious was about to happen. She made a fake phone call and walked
away to give them space to talk.

She inquired once more, "Why are you here, dear?" Is everything alright?

When Peter told Vero what he needed to say, tears streamed down his cheeks like rain. "I saw your
red letter," he said. I've come to apologize Vero. When she heard this, she burst into tears. Peter
was at a loss for what to do. He attempted to console her by saying:

"Vero, Vero, please do not cry. You will forget me by and by. You are just 15 and I am 25. I cannot
just wait for you. I am sorry."

It didn't take long for Peter to leave. She dried her tears quickly for Ellen not to realize anything,
but Ellen knew that something was not okay. Ellen didn't ask Vero when she hanged up on her
fake call.

CHAPTER 3

“Tit for Tat”

FEW DAYS LATER…

Peter left his small hometown in search of a job and a place to call home of his own. His new home
town was Gobabis. It was a little difficult because everyone was new. He grew accustomed to the
people around him over time, but he still did not sleep on occasion. He couldn't get the red letter
off his mind.

Peter, please say you’ll wait for me. I will grow up some day and you’ll see, I will be saving my
kisses just for you. Peter, please reply. This is true.

I LOVE YOU PETER!

It was early Sunday morning. He was sitting in the sun, soaking up the rays. The red letter was
causing him so much grief. He decided to pack his belongings and return to Katima Mulilo to tell
Vero how his heart was filled with her memory after those three years in Gobabis.

He arrived late in the afternoon in his hometown. Everything appeared to be brand new. It had
been three years. It looked incredible. He went to a nearby shop and bought a rose and some
perfumes for Vero as gifts. He returned home and called his grandmother to inform her that he had
returned. The grandmother was overjoyed because she hadn't seen her grandson in three years. She
asked him to pay her a visit in the morning. He couldn't decide whether to go to Grandmother or
Vero first, as he had in the past. He missed them, and he desperately wanted to see Vero first, but

he didn't want his grandmother to be upset. He was thinking about a lot of things. "What will I
do?" he pondered. He stood on his old bicycle, attempting to counsel himself:

"I'll just go to Vero first and tell her what I need to tell her. Later, I'll make Grandma's excuse and
rush to her as well. Isn't that right? Yes, that would be fantastic."

He did what he thought was best.

He rode his bike all the way to Vero's house in record time. He ran into her as she was leaving the
kraal. He was overjoyed to see her. Because he was fat, Vero didn't recognize him at first.

They exchanged joyful greetings. Peter inquired if she was too preoccupied.

"Not by much. Do you need anything?" Vero responded.

Peter scratched his head, unsure where or how to begin. "Umhmnn... I've missed you so much,
Vero, and I couldn't stop thinking about you. Especially when I think about the red letter.” His
heart started beating fast and his eyes turned red. Vero stared him down with his eyes wide open
and said, "I'm not sure I understand. What exactly are you attempting to say? She asked. “I want
to marry you, Vero; I adore you,” he declared. Things were not as they were before. When he
heard what Vero had to say, his tears fell like rain.

For Peter, it was too late.

He sobbed. Vero was at a loss for what to do. "I'm so sorry, Peter," she said somberly. She
attempted to console him. She explained:

Peter, Peter please don’t cry. You will forget me by and by it has been 3 years you have gone.
Peter I have married your best friend Simi.
