TITLE:

BANG THAT BALLOON!

ll. OBJECTIVES:

➢ To know what is/are represented by the materials in the

activity
➢ To know what happened to the materials after the explosion
➢ Observe what happened after the explosion and be able to
describe what is Big Bang all about based on the activity

lll. MATERIALS:

• 2 Medium-sized rounded balloons • Gravel

• Old newspapers • Pebbles
• Pentel pen • Marbles
• Sand • Water
• Funnel
• Tissue paper
IV. PROCEDURE:

1. Place the newspaper on the floor

2. Stretch the balloon
3. Draw heavy dots ½ inch apart on the balloon
4. Carefully put a handful of sand, gravel, pebbles, and marbles
inside the balloon.
Add water to cover the solids.
5. Wipe dry the mouth of the balloon with a tissue paper
6. Blow air inside the balloon 5x. Hold.
7. Take a picture of the dots and the materials inside.(side view,
selfie)
8. Continue blowing air inside the balloon until it burst
9. Take a slow motion video on how the balloon explodes.
10. Clean the working area
11. Discuss the results of the activity

VI. RESULT AND DISCUSSION

1. What is represented by the dots?
-The Dots represented the different galaxies.
2. What happened to the dots when you blow air inside the balloon?
-The move away from each other.
3. What is/are represented by the materials inside the balloon?
-The different elements that composed the Universe.
4. What happened to the materials when the balloon burst?
-They scatter, each element has its own place.
5. How are the materials different before and after explosion?
-Before they are compressed after the explosion they spread
away from each other.
6. What is Big Bang?
-Expansion of matter due to high density and temperature
that it became the beginning of the Universe.

VII. GENERALIZATION:
- The Universe started due to the expansion of matter with high
density and temperature that made the different elements
scattered or spread out from each other. It is not an exploxion but
rather expansion.
