Project Scope Statement
Summary: DroneTech has been selected by Wilmont’s Pharmacy to develop a project to deliver products
via drone in San Francisco area. The project will only be four stores using this technology. DroneTech is also
responsible to configurate the drone applications with Wilmont’s requirements.
Purpose: The purpose of the project is to develop drone technology to Wilmont’s to deliver products
via flying drones. The project success is key for DroneTech to have with Wilmont’s a long-term
relationship.
Project Goals: The Project will provide drone technology to deliver products in four stores initially.
Also, as part of the project, DroneTech will provide the drone piloting and delivery customized systems
and business process to comply to Wilmont’s requirements.
Project Scope Description: The drone delivery project includes the following Scope elements
Project Management: The project has a maximum budget of US$ 1,750,000 and it is scheduled to begin
on January 5. The first customer delivery flight should take place no later than November 30 due to
harsh weather around San Francisco area. Plan tasks and assign will be planned and distributed among
the project team accordingly.
Regular meetings shall be held with the team and stakeholders. Other ways of communication will be
used depending on the interests of the person.
All decisions and final approval shall be approved by the Project Manager.
Key Results: At the conclusion of the project, the team shall have delivered four drones to the selected
pharmacy stores, customized with the colors and logo of Wilmont’s. A customized software and
business process according with Wilmont’s requirements.
Primary Deliverables:
• Four prototype drones: The drones will be customized with Wilmont’s colors and logo, Must
have a temperature-controlled bagging system. DroneTech will provide the pilots for the
drones.
• Customized delivery software: DroneTech system will interface with Wilmont’s enhanced
online order entry process, allowing customers to register their willingness to have a drone
deliver their order by means of online entry or smartphone entry.
• Monthly reports: The monthly reports will be present the project status. What was done on the
previous month, what is undergoing and what will be done in the next months ahead. Also, it
will present a budget expenditure along the project.
• Manual’s Information: DroneTech will provide to the four pharmacy stores a Procedures
Manual with all information needed on the drone delivery technology.
• Project Document: The project document will contain details of the project, requirements,
modification and every change during the project.
Deliverable Acceptance Criteria: To consider the Project a success, the following criteria must be
completed
Drones’ criteria:
• Four prototype drones.
• Drones customized with Wilmont’s logo and color.
• Temperature-controlled bagging system incorporated.
• Cushion system must be installed.
• Pilot’s for the drones.
Software’s criteria:
Key Milestones:
• Drone system configuration and testing: February – March.
• Drone bagging system installation and commissioning: January – April.
• Drone cushioning system installation and testing: January – April.
• Drone customizing (painting): April
• Interface DroneTech system with Wilmonts’: August
• Drone Trials: September
• First delivery: October
• Project close out: November
Constraints:
• The project begins on January 5 and the first customer delivery flight should take place no
later than November 30 to avoid harsh weather in the San Francisco area.
• Customers in apartment building can’t use the drone service due to delivery issues.
• Budget cannot exceed US$ 1,750,000
• To ensure that Wilmont’s security will not be compromised and no breach for customer’s
privacy and Wilmont’s drone project information.
Assumptions:
• DroneTech will be responsible for the Drones maintenance and spare pieces.
• DroneTech will support software updates.
• DroneTech will be responsible for any damaged on the drone.
Scope Exclusions:
• Drone can’t be used on harsh weather.
• Illegal use of the drone
• Drones malfunction due to final weight including delivery order.
• Charging the drones.
